I don’t believe that “no one escapes the taxman.” That would mean that God has failed in his mission.
When God created the world, he gave all of us a free will.
The point is to live in such a way that people who are in need are being provided for.
But forcing people to do stuff in order to provide for those who are in need is an immoral point of view.
We should tax people according to their needs, if those people are able to pay what they owe. If those people are not able to pay what they owe, then that’s God’s job.
God created the world. He made some people very rich and others poor. If we don’t use the people who have money to help the people who are in need, who would?
God made us with the ability to decide our own fate, so when we make a decision, we have to be willing to live with it.
If we don’t pay taxes and then we get into an accident that causes damage to someone else, who will compensate the other person for the damage that they’ve incurred?
If we don’t pay taxes and then we receive benefits from government programs such as welfare and social security, who will be responsible for paying for those benefits?
Who is doing the work? People are doing the work. If you don’t have the wherewithal to support yourself, then the church or the government will.
It is a fact that someone, somewhere, has been born into a family that does not have a sufficient amount of money.
When a family does not have sufficient money for food, they have to make decisions. Some families choose to feed one or more children better than they feed themselves. They have a better chance of having a successful life, but there are those who can’t afford that option. There are hungry children that are living without food, and then there are those children that choose not to have a better life than those that they see have. God created all of us, and he expects us to do the best we can with what we have.
Jesus said that the poor in spirit would be happy. Those that have no material needs may have needs in their hearts, but that does not invalidate the point that God created us with needs. That is why we have a free will; we are able to determine what is best for us to do with our limited resources.
When I think of the poor in spirit, I think of the people that have already died. When I think of the “good news,” I think of those that still have not been born, and will not be for many years to come.
I think it would be nice if we got some news that tells us that there is “food on the table, clothes on our back, and a roof over our head.” I think it would be nice if that was true for all of us, because some have it better than most, and some don’t have it at all.
