My College On Proposition 8

Well, what does ‘voting to support’ actually mean? For example, all my professors have stickers and posters all over their office doors proudly portraying their stances on a variety of political issues. Is a student council voting to support something just a more elaborate version of that, or does this mean events will be held, money will be raised, and so on?

For example, in high school we always had ‘student elections’ for the president of the US.

Who cares? If homosexuals wanted to get married, they’d decide to be straight.

Marriage is a legal (i.e. tax) status. As such these are important questions. In a society that values the separation of church and state, gay marriage should be legal. Either that or marriage should be divorced from any state involvement whatsoever.

Haha, brutal proposition though. bringing in the issue of ‘supporting gay marriage or not’ is introducing fundamentalism and intolerance into school peeps, it shouldn’t be a debate, and adults shouldn’t treat it like a debate outside of whether or not bigotry is acceptable. Especially not in schools. Its not a debate whether or not they should have the right to marriage, outside of religious backwards fundamentalism.

Yeah, I can honestly say that if any of that shit happened in my school(highschool) i would have quit, automatically. (any propaganda for religion)

Though i did have to deal with some bitch teacher, perpetually making highly illegal statements about creationism in relation to biology/evolution. Though, In Canada, I just told her to shut her fucking mouth before one of the students called the school-board. end-problem.

I feel for you people in America.
