New opinions on post modernism

I read segments of Jean Baudrillard’s “Simulacra and Simulation” last night and I was uterly intrigued. His logic and view’s on materialism and symbols built on no truth are very thought provoking which in many conversations when I alude to his work or talk about post modernism are very confused. I had quite a few questions about the work however that I would like to discuss. I cannot directly from his work decide if he is a Christian or a believer in any high power whatsoever because he constatly seems to question God. Although I believe that if you are not asking questions about your faith you are not placing any faith in God at all. I keep trying to talk to my friends about it and when I tell them music, movies, fashion are built on nothingness they rebut by saying you have to spend your time doing something and it might as well be that. Basically they completely believe in the simmulation that has been placed before them and I feel helpless to explain. Judging from what I have read so far he has not touched on human relationships at all though. I would think his opinion on love and friendship would be slightly more optimistic than his view of living in this post modern prison. Please share any thoughts I am having a very boring Thanksgiving weekend.

We constantly do things because we are driven by desires.

Most people now days actually contribute very little to the betterment of the human race. They just eat, sleep, and fuck. Even the ones with jobs rarely contribute much. I had a job where I did nothing and got paid a very good wage (that’s the IT biz for ya).
