If we take a system of 2 particles having a fixed distance separating them of 1 nm and then look at the system 1 nanosecond later and see that the distance has changed to 2 nm, then we may say the system underwent a state transition from state A to state B. Now if the time interval becomes smaller and smaller and the change smaller and smaller the only thing that can distinguish state A from B is just that they are different. What we really have is a state A that transits to state B in zero time. State A is within that state for an infinite amount of time, transit to B in zero time and B remains in that state for another infinite amount of time. Now these cycles go on indefinitely, but the concept of time, the perception of time is just an emerging property of the instantaneous changes. Time really doesn’t exist, only state changes exist.
The changes are regular and occur in certain cycles compared to other changes and this is what makes time measurement possible and the perception of time reasonable. But only state changes exist, time is an imaginary component of reality. Also the changes between state A and B are actually always infinite. If we are a large observer looking at the state A and then state B, we would not notice any difference between them because we are so large compared to nanometers. But if we were an imaginary observer that was the size of a trillionth of a nanometer, then the change would be huge. A huge change can become an infinite change if the size of the observer tends towards zero. Then an almost infinite change corresponds to an infinite energy, which means there is enough energy to allow state A to change to any state B, even a complete universe, or a machine or anything else.
So even the necessity of a small chain of causes and effects to create a complex item is false. A state can transit from being an electron to being a new city in zero time. Hence even the big bang is easy to explain if we eliminate the concept of time and we realize that we have NO ABSOLUTE MEASURE OF ENERGY LEVELS. Quantum fluctuations imply exactly this, that our measurement of energy is arbitrary. We measure energy levels according to reciprocal proportionalities between items that we manipulate daily so to speak. But the same ideas of the “size” of the item measuring the change applies to energy in general. If we were an item having an energy of 1/10^100 electron volt, every quantum fluctuation would appear like a big bang.
There are no absolute measurements in the universe, no absolute standards to measure distances or “time” or energy, only proportionalities between items, hence all is allowed and possible.
Interesting “metaphysics”. The point is that our knowledge is always based on what we can locally manipulate and reason about. An extremely high energy level is invisble to us just as an extremely low one. If the size of the universe is trillions of times the size of the observed universe, then the outer universe is not accessible.
Maybe the fact that there is no “absolute” measure in energy or “time” or distance means that we see only locally accessible ranges but not other ranges which are out of our view. So these ranges can be many times larger or smaller but then even those new ranges have the same problem. They can’t see us, we are too small or too big. And this goes on forever in both directions. Again we reach an infinite universe or an infinite number of “information” structures.
If time is only a feeling - perception that emerges from a sequence of instantaneous state transitions, then the “time” between each transition, the time that a state remains in a given stable state, is any value at all zero or infinity. What counts is not the time spent within a given state, but just that a state changes to a different state. Change creates time, time is not something outside, it is an imagined property of reality, only a sequence of changes exists and creates the feeling of time.
When the unverse ends some 10^(10^10000000000) years from now, when everything approaches the temperature of absolute zero, then there will be very few state transitions, and eventually at absolute zero, there will be a state that will not change anymore, it will be frozen forever, hence no change, no time, eternity.
Like a yardstick contains intervals of space and is a measuring device of an object’s size, a clock contains intervals of time and is a measuring device of an object’s motion.
Thus, we can never “clock” travel backward or forward in “time” a la Star Trek any more than we can yardstick travel, as motion measurement, like size measurement, no matter how frequently serially measured, is always merely a comparison to a standard and not a “road” on which to “travel” no matter our attempt to make a movie out of the serial measurements … and play it backward to create an illusion.
Some physicists would do well to retrace their steps back in time to a point where they took the the time-travel path as substantiation for later “findings”, and take the reality road less traveled instead.
Eventually, energy of change will approach zero everywhere. As energy of change approaches zero, which is very precise, the uncertainty of the measure of time will approach the infinite (Heisenberg). The measure of time will become indefinite. So in what sense will time still exist?
But in your presentation, there would no longer be any human-created clocks or humans to read them.
Thus the human concept of time would not exist.
And if there was truly no energy, there would be no motion.
But my hunch is that energy of change has never been and never will be close to zero.
The big bang was merely a super-duper nova isolated in a place within infinite material and energetic existence.
The steady state theory is the most likely correct theory about existence, meaning that nothing simply cannot exist and existence has always been, complete with material and motion.
Imagine that you are living your life exactly the same over and over again for all eternity. The previous cycle was a few trillion years ago, the next a few trillions years in the future etc. Like a giant life simulator machine that cycles through all possible lives. Now if you are living one of these cycles you can’t distinguish between this present cycle and the previous or even the trillionth previous because they are exactly the same. You can’t remember because your memories are exactly repeated with no difference from the previous. If these cycles extend for eternity you are actually living eternally, you are in infinite time!
