My thesis for this thread:
Especially if they have oil. Then they’ll need even more of our freedom. STAT!

tl;dr PYONGYANG, North Korea (AP) — Defying U.N. warnings, North Korea on Tuesday conducted its third nuclear test in the remote, snowy northeast, taking a crucial step toward its goal of building a bomb small enough to be fitted on a missile capable of striking the United States.

Sorry Bill, got my blog into the wrong place, hope it doesen’t confuse.

Gotta love it when people don’t even know whether they are talking about North Korea or North Vietnam and yet still think they have the right to a strong opinion on this subject.

NK tested another nuke. They’ve yet to use one against anybody, indeed the only country to have ever used full scale nuclear weapons against another nation is the US.

To be honest though, it is about time that government fell. It is possibly the worst in the world, though I personally think it’s a toss-up between North Korea and Saudi Arabia. You pays your money, you takes your choice. Seriously, how hard could it be to topple the North Korean government? Give me £100 million and access to about thirty or so mercenaries and I could have the job done in six weeks.

I respect BOTH of your opinions very much.

Both of you have added a lot of meat to this thread. This thread needed that information.

Thank you for taking this thread seriously AND for taking this thread to the next level.

Saudi Arabia offers better benifits before they mutilate you, or kill you. Honestly, I’d take the money then torture/death over the poverty torture/death.

It’s so sad that the US literally dropped a nuke on a country in the 20th century, yet we still can’t beat out England’s failed, backwards empire, Hitler’s Reich, or Stalin’s Soviet Empire, Mao’s depraved cultural revolution, or Japan’s Co-Prosperity Sphere for the most depreaved nation award. Shit SAIDT, you’re in a better position being Anglo to wear it than most Americans are. We after all, made the repeated blunder of propping you guys up against your other creations.

Europe=Sickness.

North Korea is a true beleiver in conservative european ideals. Hence, bad. This shit rarely turns good.

Maybe we’ll witness the first coup attempt in history involving Nukes. That would be utterly fucked up. Anarchism would reign in what’s left in North Korea, dog eat dog politics to the last survivor.

Perhaps this is a bit out of the scope of this original thread but since I have all three of you here let me ask you,

Do you think China would support North Korea and NOT impose or recognize possible tighter trade sanctions?

I thank you in advance…

…and anyone else that has a strong opinion PLEASE jump in!

China has the most to lose from a unstable North Korea. It’s borders are flooded, and underground crime via smuggling increases. It’s bad when you have terrorists in the turkish parts of western china and possibly free floating nukes on the eastern end possibly meeting up, with highly populated china in the middle.

It’s not really countries like the US most at risk of getting nuked… we’re very paranoid and quite informed about how to react. It’s countries like China and India that are at the most risk from rogue nukes floating around. The leadership of those countries are aware of this, but can’t do a whole not about it in either case.

You gotta realize this goes beyond classical ideological scopes. Watch the TV show Jericho… it was free on Hulu last I checked. See what life is like after a nuclear attack. A nuke doesn’t give a fuck if your on the right or the left, or the rhetoric that came before. Blame and partiality to a cause is meaningless when one goes on. It’s just at that point a whole lotta mindless fuck fuck.

All this being said, North Korea is playing a game to get into a better bargaining position. It wouldn’t be doing this this early in the new Kim’s reign unless he wasn’t some heavy industrial capacity he couldn’t otherwise support. We’re hitting him wrong in assuming he want’s more rice for his people… he can do that within three years with systemmatic, internal agricultural reform using techniques his country already knew to perform several generations back.

His goal is a swap, heavy industrial for heavy industrial. Likely new damns, like Mynamar did with India before opening up. But don’t expect the nuclear capacity ot suddenly leave, if you feed this behavior, it’s a priority to maintain it. If you don’t feed it, he’ll look weak and you’ll have a schismatic dynasty with weak internal security and potential nukes floating around.

Easy way around this all.

Another fact is,(and sorry about the bloop about North Viet nam- I served in the military back then)–but there is jealous qua competitiveness with south korea, intense at that. I live in Los Angeles, and I used to live in a very stable area, demographically speaking, now its maybe 50 square miles of Korea land, nothing but Korean businesses, banks. They have very large populations here, and on the whole, they are very prosperous. North korea, since its an ideological system, power culminates with the dictator, and as dictators go, they get paranoid of others’ success, and want to prove to the world how grand they are.

Condoleesa rice poo-hood the question of how she feels about the latest test by saying simply, just a drill as usual, on a morning telecast. To be honest, this latest outburst did not apparently achieve much more than deprive even more innocent families of their daily rice ration.

About the question, I would guess, that , China is worried about her Asian influence more than anything, and She does not want to give the impression, that she is bound by the West's concerns, rather ones, that affect her regionally. But that's simply a guess. China wishes to project an image as having the leading role as the most heavily industrialized power/empire,(which may happen) and I think she may consider this incident a mere puff in a smoke room full of heavy smokers. She has more to worry about with the tug of war with Japan's territorial squabbles over islands in the China sea.

Yes, it is a good thing to liberate people being crushed and starved to death under the foot of a brutal dictatorship, and if the country doing the liberating can gain an important natural resource by so doing, that’s a further incentive for them to do so.

What exactly is the problem here?

.

Thank you for weighing-in.

Let’s hope for the best…

One approach to overthrowing the North Korean dictatorship is claim they are too monocultural and need diversifying. It is racist to have too many people of the one race making up a nation state anyway. We need to invade them and bring in other races and cultures so they can be “diverse” and “harmonious” just like Western countries. If any one disagrees, including the Koreans, they are racists and bigots. You’re trying make out there’s an “us and them.” Filthy racists.

Good God some people are retarded.

The koreans are racist, as most heterogenetic populations are… they are all the same culturally and racially, if a person of a different race shows up and acts obnoxiously, then that race is the characteristic that is blamed, as it’s visually is the most blantantly obvious. Being a white american, wearing the traditional dress and behaviorism, there are benifits to this assumption with the Japanese, as they view me favorably. Not so useful with Jamaicans, who don’t give a fuck.

Most people are willing to overcome racial issues priority wise, heck, even the KKK in the US is willing to trade with blacks for business reasons. There isn’t a good reason to force a intergration of other races in North Korea, as other priorities dominate. However, it needs to be noted, there are white people, and even americans, living in North Korea. One even has a high celebrity status, being a Korean War defector, and his Son is white, his new step mother is African, and his son is being trained to serve in the upper echelons of North Korean government. It’s weird, as he should look american but you can see differences in his face that makes him look clearly NOT american. You can just tell, and shouldn’t as he’s full white with a American father.

It’s important here NOT to dismiss the nuke in and of itself. Impusive actions occur, and dynasties are a notoriously unstable system of government, expecially in the third generation. Yes, North Korea is pursuing a basic strategy, but that strategy can be very quickly dropped overnight with a Nuke going off in Seoul, Tokyo, Seattle, or Beijing- or sold on the black market.

Your ability to point out elements of past assumptions for why war happens- such as ‘war happens for resources, therefor this is a scare tactic to get more resources’ may have validity in aspects, but you haven’t explored that. For example, the largest Gold Mine is opening up in Socialist Mongolia, where non mongolians CANNOT buy land. It’s a very resource rich nation, but no one is making a drive to conquer it, neither Russia nor China or the US, despite America conquering a country right smack in the sphere of russian and Chinese influence, Afganistan.

You need to look deeper into why resource driven wars occur in the first place- the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor was one in regards to Oil… but was it the same for say, the Japanese attack on Dalian? Or the Japanese development of the Tokyo express during WW2, occupying islands with no identifiable resources? You can construct a macrosystem where everything interrelates in the end, but you can also assert other possibilities that are NOT resource driven than is just as much, if not more, resource coherent.

I have a challenge to you. Give us captioned pictures of all the variations for war, that you support and that you may even reject (for the sake of a grand philosophy, not your personal beliefs of right and wrong), and categorize them into related groups, and present them to us in a independent thread dedicated to exploring the range of such image statements. What is the limitations of propaganda on the philosophical scope we’re possible of doing? This is like asking to make a listing of all the variations of theories for why the Roman Empire Collapsed. Some say too much Christianity, other would say intentially weakenong by old pagan families through subversion and repression, climate change, sterility through lead pipes carrying water, dynastic decay, division of empire into parts, lost of population for taxation, barbarian evolution of tactics and strategy outpaced Roman ability to adapt, rapid increase in citizenship caused the desire of roman citizenship, and therefor responsibilities inherent in duty to the state to wane, etc.

Your only hitting aspects… can you name the whole range, and give reasons why some aspects for wanting to go to war differ from others, and why some are more acceptible to the masses than others? You should have a larger theory about this since your pushing opinions, so that when we respond to you, you can counter our questions with a anwser.
