From time to time I experience severe headaches with pain in only one eye (sometimes right but other times left), disturbed stomach and find myself thinking over and over about the same idea (for the duration of the headache). The idea may or may not have significance (most usually it is random and arbitrary) with the repetition of the idea over and over being the common element. On rare occasions I have woken up in a severe panic where full recovery requires a few days to a week. When waking up in a panic there is no memory of a dream or why the panic took place. Sometimes I wonder whether something happened that I refuse to remember. Any ideas? Thank you beforehand for the input.
Have you always had this, or did it just start some day? The type of panic you describe does suggest that there is something going on in your subconscious.
I haven’t had the pain in the eye and disturbed stomach, but my I do feel like my head hurts from over thinking. And I panicked for no reason too, but it was a pretty long time ago, like a few months.
As for what Pandora said about the subconscious, you should try and remember what happened the next time you dream. When you remember, go type ‘dream symbols’ in Google.
Waking up in a panic can be caused from several things. You may well have blanked something out. It is possible your sleeping mind may have come up with a horrible solution to a waking situation. In other words your subconcious put a worst case scenario together for an event that is happening will happen or has happened in your wake hours. Blocking it out does not stop the panic emotion. If you have a great sleep and great dreams you feel good in the morning don’t you? Well bad feelings will happen that way too due to a bad sleep and bad dreams.
Picking at it just makes it worse. Relax and try to let it go, you may remember why you paniced. I have done this. and realized whatI had forgotten. If you have a radio or TV on when you sleep it does affect dreams and emotions too. Sounds are great for invading dreams and messing with us while we sleep. A cat fight can cause a bad dream, dogs barking, sirens, etc… These sounds can cause a bad dream and cause you to wake with a panic.
My arthritis acts up when I use critical thinking for prolonged periods of time.
There are days where I have to give up writing and reading for several days before I can go back to it.
