I don’t even know what to say… he’s good.

Nice tricks.

I honestly can’t figure them out.

Especially the water and razor blade ones.

Some of it is camera work but I mean… wow.

I guess he’s the only magician to win the merlin award twice, and three times ever.

The best thing about magic is it proves how stupid the human brain is. STUPID!!! STUPID!!! STUPID!!! :imp: :imp: :imp:

I bet the answers are all so simple too.

Update: apparently if you watch the people holding the paper in the walking through glass one they don’t really even look behind the glass or seem all that interested. Seems suspicious…

That’s because everyone in those videos is an actor.

I’m sitting here watching the water one… and even if all those people are actors (which I don’t doubt really) I still can’t figure it out…

He’s not suspended because if you watch… his weight actually changes when he takes steps.

Some sort of invisible stilts that retract on cue?

fucked…

Yeah, I started a thread about this guy a little while back http://www.ilovephilosophy.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=150345

and I can’t really bring any light to the situation, but I can assure you that everything that he does is a very clever illusion. He admits it himself, and I think that it is possible for you to ‘buy’ the solutions to his tricks on his website.
But have you seen the one where he levitates between buildings!!?!?
and obviously the water walking one is pretty spectacular too
I definitely can’t figure out though he how he levitates other people, and how he does that matrix type stance.

Criss Angel is a friggin MINDFREAK!!!

he’s a lot more personable than David Blaine too, he probably uses magic tricks to get ass.

Check out that one I posted up, the one labeled ‘Dissappears’, thats one of the most amazing ones I’ve seen so far.

I think the water trick is simply a clear, plastic bridge with holes strategically placed to drop his shoes through and room for people to swim under.

You can quite easily see the weight distribution through his body. His heal lands on something very solid then rolls forward as it would on a platform. This is particularly obvious when he steps onto the platform, then again when he pushes off at the end. He also very obviously steps over the hole where he dropped his shoe through.

If the plastic bridge is bevelled properly, it will look as though it disappears into the water.

Also note how people swim under the bridge but not across it on the surface – i.e. in front or behind him – where the platform/bridge would be.

Having said that, he’s a professional entertainer, not someone claiming to have special powers, so hats off to him.

If I ever learned magick, it would indeed be to “get ass.” :sunglasses:

Sadly I’m too lazy.

If you got ass, then I’d believe in magic.

The sawn in half one was poorly put together in my view - the saw blade never actually goes through him (as it does when Copperfield does it), the two halves of the table break apart too soon, the reactions seem very, very staged. Particularly ‘we got to walk between the two parts and see his body and see that it was really him split in half’. As to Angel’s not very convincing ‘aaargh, aargh’ which comes about 2 seconds late - they didn’t even time the trick well. I have to say that this one didn’t impress me at all.

The one with the woman being split in half in the park is highly amusing, but it’s basically all effects that were around in the time of Braindead. The wooden thump that you hear when Angel strikes the midriff should give it away. Again, the reactions of the crowd seemed highly contrived.

The being hit by a car one is unconvincing - all you need is three different sets of shots, one with him against the wall, one with a car hitting a dummy and going through the wall, one with him under the car afterwards. The actions of the ‘ambulance crews’ were also extremely contrived and unrealistic. On the other hand, it could be one set of shots, but it’s the sort of thing any professional stuntman could do with a rigged wall. Note how thin the wall appears in the middle when the camera goes through it compared to the side-on shot where it looks much thicker. Note also the distinct lack of serious rubble and how easily the wall breaks.

The walking through glass - it’s a dummy window of some kind. Note that just after they put the piece of paper up against it the camera cuts away to a brief shot of the people watching, then there’s the sped-up bit where he takes off his shoes. The reactions could once again quite easily be a bunch of paid lackeys as they do nothing special or particularly convincing. Notice also that at 3:02 in the video there’s a slight light alteration, possibly indicating an edit where he’s halfway through the window.

The shadow tricks are also quite simple - the glass is moved on the table via magnets and the women are either actresses or just very dumb. If Criss could repeat the tapping trick with 7 jabs then I’d be impressed, but 3 is such a very, very obvious number (3 cards, three cups - it’s a common number in magic circles). Note also the rattle of his watch when he’s tapping.

No offence to anyone taken in by this, but it’s pretty simple. There are any number of sites explaining such tricks. The walking on water one is the most impressive but I reckon km’s explanation is sound.

I found this much more entertaining.

does he put that girl back together?

from what i can tell he just leaves her split apart.

In which case, if it were real, you’d expect a serious mothafuckin lawsuit ramming its way up his ass…

It didn’t work on my computer, sad panda :frowning:
