OK, two debates done, two to go.

Tues comes debate number 3. Willard vs Obama.
After the last presidential debate, I am not sure what we shall see. In the vice-presidential debate,
Biden pretty much called Ryan an a liar and I suspect that when Willard
lies (he lies quite often) I am hoping Obama looks willard in the eye and
calls him a liar. Flat out, just like that, “You sir, are a liar.”
At the very least, call out the fact, that after all this time, Romney still
has not given out any specifics on any of his future plans.

I suspect this debate will be far more energetic and contentious.

I hope that when both of them lie that both of them point out that the other is lying, but it won’t happen.

In any case PK, as an anarchist why do you care? This is just two actors playing out a bit of political theatre, it means absolutely nothing in terms of what policies will actually be enacted in the next four years in the US. Seriously, aside from maybe investing in some seeds, some equipment for sourcing your own clean water, some tangible assets like precious metals, there’s nothing you can really do about what’s coming. Voting doesn’t make a damn bit of difference, and nor does following these soap operas between the orange guy and the fake black guy.

Yes, I am an anarchist. I am also someone who looks at the big picture.
Anarchism is not going to happen anytime soon, at least excluding
somalia and that is not my first choice of places to live.
I can fight for the future which won’t happen in several lifetimes or I can fight
for tomorrow. I choose to use my energy to fight for tomorrow.
Yes, I understand the empty suits that stand for others who have vested interest
that don’t include my interest. Romney stands for an entire class that has promoted
class warfare for decades and all out warfare is sooner then anybody thinks, O stands
for another class or group of people who have their own agenda. However Obama stands
for an agenda that is more in line with my anarchism which is about the people.

Anarchist are in a very real sense, republicans, but we are not afraid of people and we
believe in people because anarchist believe people will do the right thing given the choice
and education to understand what their choices are.
Republicans believe in freedom but they believe that everyone else is wrong
about their choices whereas anarchist believe people do make the right choices.
republicans are anarchists gone wrong.
Think of lord of the rings, whereas orcs are described as elves, misshapen and gone wrong.
Anarchist are elves and republicans are orcs, elves gone wrong,

a little bit less then 7 hours to go before the debate.
I am working, so I will miss the first 20 minutes or so, but
that is why someone invented TIVO.

Kropotkin

Actually it’s why someone invented VHS. TIVO is just an update.

You have a big TV? Cool. Gonna make some popcorn for this debate?

I watched the last one, but only after I learned what to look for.

I thought this was particularly insightful.

overall, I thought Obama won the debate on both style and substance.
Willard made some points but then step on them, Libya for example
with everyone admitting that Obama did say, act of terror the next day.
Willard was right about everything else but because he got that wrong,
no one will remember he was right.

It was as contentious as I thought it might be, with Obama actually showing real anger
which is good. Each made strong points, willard with obama record and
obama with willard, many different positions.
Where willard lost big and I mean big, was his answer about
women’s income gap. Women, my wife for example noted Mitt
was more interested in getting women home, so they can cook in
the kitchen then in actually income issue.

I thought Willard was weaker and less effective then last time.

He certainly won on substance. Romney’s answer to the first question was that, basically, he likes jobs and will make more of them. He didn’t even attempt to say how he would make them (which was the question). He may have well stood there for two minutes repeating “I like jobs”. Obama came on and gave three specific ways that he would increase jobs in the U.S. . Romney came back and criticized Obama’s ‘truthfulness’ and said that he had a ‘five point plan’ but again, didn’t once mention how he would increase jobs.

This was basically how the debate continued. Obama gave answers, Romney criticized Obama’s answers. Over two hours, I felt Romney almost completely failed to make any of his specific policies clear. It was just like ‘I’ll make more money, create more jobs and life will be good’, over and over again.

I have no idea who was lying on a lot of basic facts. I’m looking forward to factcheck.org’s analysis of certain points. You and SIATD got your wishes: they both called each other liars (just about), which is good.

Romney was also downright rude and disrespectful of the debate process. He was trying to look more ‘active’, but the nastier side of his personality (the spoiled kid used to getting his own way) really came through in this debate.

There was a moment watching this debate when even I was starting to take it seriously. I can see why grown adults talk about this stuff with a straight face.

You know… kind of.

K: “Grown Ups” tend to take stuff seriously only because we can never really tell
what is actually important and what is bullshit. so to be on the safe side, we
are always serious until someone tells us otherwise. Thus the importance of jon stewart for the kids and
bill maher for the adults.

Mitt + Math = Myth

Or rather, Myth on meth = Mitt’s math

Please forward to the Obama meme-machine. Thank you.

Grown ups, or adults, have an accurate awareness of their surroundings. Being an adult has nothing to do with age. It has to do with your attitude towards yourself.

You’re an old man who admits he’s content with not knowing anything beyond what you see on the television, presumably because you have no self respect.

K: I am old. I freely admit that, however with that said, you are simply wrong. Don’t worry,
once you reach my age, you will understand.
