OMG...WHAT A GAME

hey any chess players around? …i just played a casual game- it was a lightning 1 minute game…me and the other player went at it (i won of course) but when i say we went at it- i mean it- the game ended at 139 moves  …in only one minute…anyway, if there are any chess players here at ilp feel free to accept this as a challenge- pm me and we can play some matches.

Blitz chess? I don’t see the point, it’s completely the opposite of what I enjoy about chess.

no it was a lightning match- one minute not five…but we can play as long as you’d like- a standard is not a problem- it changes what you love about chess? im not sure if you exactly know what you are speaking of…at high ranks blitz games are rather accurate…the more time you give me the worse it is for you…so basically i just cant hear what you are saying, unless that is, you accept the challenge …also its better to play games under ten minutes on online because anything longer and you greatly increase the possibility of someone being able to use the computer’s moves to throw off the game- usually patzers only complain about time though- (just to be honest- no offense :sunglasses: )

How can two people make 139 moves in one minute? Isn’t that a physical impossibility?

I prefer time to think and plan out traps and manouevres etc. quick fire games don’t allow this as much. I also play games online spread over days even weeks sometimes and have yet to suspect anyone of cheating.

Patzer?

I play a lot on chesscube as “tabrasa”. If you’re on there, I’ll play you - 15 minutes though - if you don’t mind.

hth,

Which server do you play on?

Nobody has as yet addressed the impossibility of two people making 139 moves in a minute. Do I detect a dollop of seriously disingenuous exaggeration here?

This thread is ridiculous. Playing three dimensional chess in a ridiculous one dimensional timeframe falls in the category of playing the mark for no reason at all. IOW, reely stoopidd.

It’s easy online. The program at chesscube allows you to nominate your next move while your opponent is playing - this effectively means that move takes “zero-time” if you are good enough to predict what the other player will do and move accordingly, technically you could play a very long “real game” in a very short period of internet time.

You’re massively anal, btw.

Games at the 1-minute speed are really low quality. It’s more a test of how quickly you can move the mouse rather than how well you play chess. The 3-minute and 5-minute speeds require serious playing ability.

I used to play on chessclub.com

What the hell does that mean?

139 moves is a hell of a lot of moves in any game of chess to be honest, but that might be more to my ruthless efficiency

Exactly what it says. Somebody is trying to play people for fools.

How many chess moves can two people make in one minute? I have no idea really since I am a really crummy chessplayer and I can’t imagine any decent players wanting to play with me, but seriously . . . .

“Three dimensional chess in a one dimensional timeframe??” I’m an absolute dunce then because I have no idea what that means…

oh ok cool tab…ill add you next time im on there. my name on there is “whosbetter”…i signed up recently after three times great told me about it but i only played for about a half hour or so

As Tab says, if you can preselect your move then each move of the game can take as little as one tenth of a second. The fast time limit games ( 1-minute for example) will actually have more moves than a slower game. The reason is that in a fast game, you don’t have enough time to look for good moves and instead you are looking for legal moves which save you time. Play continues even when you are hopelessly losing because you want your opponent to run out of time and therefore lose. In a slower game, the better player will be able to think up a successful attack which will finish the game before lots of moves are played and before time runs out.

Looking forward to kicking your ass.

 …we’ll see about that tab
