One way collision

Is that a photo from Pamplona? The Encierro?

I believe so, yes.

That was the intention at least.

:stuck_out_tongue:

Visually - it’s a load of bull.

yes - that’s all i have to say…

Then why even post?

What does is it say to you? What do you think it even is? Discuss.

It says to me that the world is overly civilized and still secretly barbaric…

Dan, I think everything says that to you

Probably…

I already told you what it says to me - i agree with Tabula - end of discussion.

It says --to you-- that you should repeat the joke of the previous person who commented? It says to agree?

How do you agree with a joke, when it itself is a work of art, only if words?

Tabula responded to my work of art with one of his own, you have simply agreed with both of these. You cannot, or perhaps I should say should not let art simply dictate your thoughts. Engage it. The Mona Lisa isn’t meant to be looked at, before announcing ‘Yes’ curtly and walking off.

After all, how can we ever know the social status of a particular piece of art unless we describe it adequately?

This is obviously high art. You should apply for a government grant.

I made it in paint in 5 minutes while playing poker.

The point is, if you’re going to post in the visual arts forum, do so by engaging the piece – write something, anything; anything other than ‘this sucks’ or ‘Yeah’.

Gobbo,

Your work, it’s not much (in matter of abundance of details) - but it’s enough to talk about.

What’s with the twitchy colour lines ? They’re obviously your subconscious yelling to your cognitive part of the brain to turn off the lights. Very expressive.

The insert with the bull is apparently the input from the external world. It suggests power and irresistible aplomb. It evokes the rampaging male figure, the Minotaur guarding the labyrinth or the thunderous Rudra from Rig-Veda, whose seamen spreads across the land and fertilises it.

Very good show.

Yeah, like I totally agree.

They’re actually the parts of my room which stand out when I watch TV. They are irrational and borderline abstract because my attention is more invaded by their presence than anything, they are not -there- in the present sense, but in effect being noticed after the fact. The ‘yelling’ as you so accurately expressed.

I caught hold of this thought as I was watching some movie or another. I tried to slow it from the racing thoughts in the old Gobbo brain, but I didn’t seem to capture it in its entirety – hence the 5 minute attempt.

Basically I wanted to juxtapose that ‘frame’ of reference or perception one could conceptualize while watching TV with that of, as you implied, the human experience itself.

Watching TV is really not so different from living. The bull looks about to collide with us, but he never does. The collision is ours, even though it may not seem it. The peripherals scream and annoy our thoughts because they are there somewhere in the subconscious. We can choose to look away from meaning if we so choose.

But like me and movies… I find it ever so hard sometimes.

I think this piece is nicely balanced but your color is erratic. If you had a better direction with your use of color, and perhaps some variation in your thickness of your line - it would be quite nice.

Make the color work with the piece not against it. I am thinking bloody-bull red… for a starter. I don’t see this as a finished piece, but it could be with a bit o’ tweaking.

I like the piece, at first it for sure makes you keep looking.

If I was doing it, I might immitate with the lines the falling and unstableness of the bull. But to do what you felt at the moment I think is always the best choice, that way you feel completely honest with the picture =D>

Thanks,

Yeah, like I said, the lines are supposed to be the impressions from my surroundings in subconscious so… the coloring is actually reflecting: my chair (black), the drawer sticking out of my dresser (brown) etc.

But in retrospect perhaps I should have added an element of depth to the colors… a bit more metaphoric.

Either way… I doubt I’ll change it now. Like someone said earlier… this isn’t winning any grants
