who’s more awesome and why.

and if you feel so obligated, list them in order of who’s coolest to who’s not.

i got this idea to waste a whole thread from a huge debate i had with a few friends at lunch today on this same topic. basically, we eventually concluded: Batman/Indiana Jones was #1, then James Bond, then Zorro.

Indiana Jones, because of that one time that crazy guy was waving the scimitar around all like “shing-shing-shing-SHING!” and Indy gives him this look, like “What the fuck are you supposed to be?” except, he doesn’t actually say that, I mean, he doesn’t say anything- any of them other guys, you know they’d have to open their gob and say something witty to give away the punchline. But not Indy. He just gives him this look, then whips out the revolver and blows him away.
I mean, I guess carving 'z’s into the seats of people’s pants and throwing little metal ‘batarangs’ around is cool, kinda, but no.

heh… that was funny Ucci

I went with bond though… because all super heros have a weakness, Bond just does utterly impossible shit and then gets laid.

He’s the man.

Bond definitely comes in number 2 for me, but I couldn’t think of a way to work him in.

Hello F(r)iends,

Indiana Jones is awesome! He’s number one amid the choices…

On Science vs. Philosophy:

Indy: Nothing shocks me. I’m a scientist.

Indy: Archaeology is the search for fact… not truth. If it’s truth you’re looking for, Dr. Tyree’s philosophy class is right down the hall.

On Women:
Elsa: [to Indy after a kiss] How dare you kiss me!
Indy: Leave me alone, I don’t like fast women.

Indy has it all: charm, looks, girls, adventure, Nazis, religion, planes, snakes, Egypt…

-Thirst
P.S. Batman is a distant second on the list…

That was actually done because Harrison Ford had the flu that day and was unable to preform the scheduled fight scene. Funny how luck may be the greatest creative genius of all. (It’s one of my favorite film scenes as well though).

I vote for Batman, especially now that I’ve seen Batman Begins, which, I actually think is the best Batman movie to be made thus far. Of all the comic-book heros that I’ve come across so far, Batman seems to be the most believable character of all. I Just love how lonely and sad the guy is, especially given the fact that he’s a super-rich playboy. I don’t know, I think his sadness and story just compel me. Indiana would be #2 on my list.

 HAHA!
i thought you wrote “ONIONS PLEASE” and i was all "HEY! im not sure if i failed my finals yet! "

Batman because

  1. Cool Car
  2. Silent, Brooding Demeanor
  3. All Black Wardrobe
  4. Involved with Catwoman(!)

BTW, Pirates are still tougher than Ninjas!

no offense but if you vote batman and badmouth ninjas in the same post you’re an idiot cause batman’s a ninja

The Underground Man:

I heard it was a bit of improv- he had the flu, didn’t feel like doing the fight scene, and did that instead. : )

zorro of course…

none of the others have ever been a gay blade…

Must have missed that comic book convention. Thanks for setting me straight, but please don’t tell me which issue of Batman this revelation was made. I have seen the error of my ways.

In reverse order:

Indiana Jones
More geek than cool, he bumbles his way through his adventures. Besides, he’s too nice to be cool.

Zorro
He’s flamboyant. His manner and style are as important as his deeds.

Batman
His image is extremely cool and the moody look gives little away. But under it all there is inner turmoil which prevents him taking the crown.

James Bond
The epitome of cool (albeit in probably a very British way). To wake up on a plane (having been drugged?) owned by the most dangerous man on the planet, be greeted with the line “my name is Pussy Galore” and reply “I must be dreaming”. What more do you want?

James Bond, without a shadow of a doubt. In the first Bond movie, Dr No,
Bond comes face to face with his antagonist. Bond (Connery) picks up a bottle of champagne to use as a weapon, Dr No says ‘That’s a Dom Perignon ’55, it would be a pity to break it’ and Bond replies ‘I prefer the ’53 myself’

actually that would be “batman begins.”

plus, look at him. he dresses in black, uses tools and natural skill to make people think he has powers, turns fear “against those who prey on the fearful”, and all in the name of justice. sounds like a ninja to me.

Adam West

Voted Batman. The reason is less technical and rather purely nostalgic. The old Batman show with Adam West and Burgess Meredith et al was one of the first television shows I remember watching - Sunday mornings after The Lone Ranger.

Zorro would come in second in this respect, i.e. due to similar reasons.

I was never (and am still not) a James Bond fan. Give me Austin Powers over him any day.

Indiana Jones is quite the pimp, and I’m a fan of all three movies, but, in terms of nostalgia, it’s just not the same.

Bond. Easy choice.

Ursula Andress: Are you looking for shells?
Bond: No, I’m just looking.

Although maybe the best line in a Bond movie was actually said by the bad guy.

Bond: So Goldfinger, you expect me to talk?
Goldfinger: No, Mr. Bond. I expect you to die.

Of course Batman wins. He’s the vigilante. Bond and the others are lawful good. What is admired in those characters is the sense of style. In Batman, there is a stronger moral appeal to the idea that a character isn’t “good” or “bad,” per se, who is both the avenger and the criminal- or his indifference to “law” in the city of Gotham…taking it into his own hands, as it were. That character schemata is popular with more people because everyone is either a criminal or a law abiding citizen.

Plus he’s a comic book character for God’s sake. Its like apples and pinnapples all of a sudden. Bond and Jones are merely real, Zorro is merely a legend, but Batman…Batman is a that dark mysterious supernatural mythical person with amazing technologies- far exceeding what Bond has at his disposal.

Are you kidding? No contest.

I came from the Roger Moore James Bond days, by the way. Connery was already passed when I was watching them. And I do a most excellent impersonation of Connery as well. “That’s not a sword!?” “Money Penny.”

Sean Connery’s Bond, great voice, alway soooo very cool, never ruffled and great looking. Besides, Connery is a great actor, few today can match him.
