Personal education interests/levels in science.

How much time do you typically engage reading/studying/educating yourself on scientififc diciplines, facts, statistics and etc? Why are you so interested in the given subjects, and what makes you passionate about them?

As a child I was heavily interested in biology/physics (like most children naturally are) my interest in the sciences/education stead pretty normal until I hit very early in childhood where our social teacher went out of the way to teach us about Charles Darwin and Evolution (a section many teachers felt they could skip, it was ocial studies after all) I am indebted to her because she really did raise a huge passion for the subject in me and I subsequently aced all tests/projects on the subject (not impressive for a little kid but whatever, the passion/interest was there). My interest in science went around and around in my younger years, I did a lot of stargazing and researach on meteorites etc (like many kids) and read things about physical anthropology and digging up old bones, but that was the start and thats how my interest in science came about.

For about 6-7 years now i’ve been more interested in science to the point that its become an obsession to me, Every-day I read at least 5 hours of textbook, I own a small library (that will be vast scientific library in a couple of years). My largest interest is evolution/biology and dozens of subfields:

micro/molecular biology (cell/genetics, etc) and random subfields of each like zoology, animal studies, ecology. I am highly interested in even more loosely connected biological fields, behavorial sciences such as neurobiology, cognitive science, cognitive neuroscience, evolutionary psychology, behavorial genetics and etc.

I am highly interested in hunter-gatherers and their lifestyles/our ancestors, I have studied hunter-gatherer research, primate studies, worthwhile anthropology and the fossil record and so forth. Theres somthing about how elite/primitive the life was that intrigues me, because while the life was primitive in comparison to our, the psychology/solutions envolved with living in such worlds are just as complicated.

Its just breath-taking thinking of hunter-gatherers fighting for survival amongst each other, massive predators, and the harsh environment.

I suppose EVOLUTION and all aspects of it is my REAL interest, I would say evolution and not biology, but the two are one in the same, as i am specifically talking about biological evolution.

How so? Why do you think it had the same complexity?

Complex might not be the correct word. Let me explain:

The complexity envolved in life/social life/problem solving. Plenty of the problems hunter-gatherers faced they devised ingenius solutions too, the problems of living with bad-ass predators, taking down mammoths, whatever. Plenty of us today, given all our modern knowledge and all their knowledge, would fail to make correct decisions where past smarter hunter-gatherers would have.

So proportionally, for lack of a better word, their accomplishments at the time are comparable to ours in modern day.

Yes, that is what I mean to say.

My main interests are neuroscience, history, physics and astrology. I research when I can, but since I haven’t started college yet I don’t have much formal education in these fields. I learn through talking with people I know who are majoring in neuroscience and physics, and I read history books and watch nothing but the history channel when I’m watching TV. I’m more interested in world history during the Ancient Roman times, and the many dynasties of China.

With neuroscience there is still so much to be learned, and it’s fascinating to hear about all the unbelievable tasks performed by the brain over something so simple as smelling an apple.

Same thing with physics, the complexity of the way the universe works is still vastly unexplored and physicists are learning new exciting things every day.

I studied the Sciences at school, but then specialised into Art and Computer Science at College level, and then finally onto Art at HND/Degree level, but art is inextricably linked with Science!

At present my interests lie in Cognitive behaviour, Astronomy, Genetics: specifically mutation, and Ethnic drift!

Double post…

my interests include everything…

i have no science education above high school…
