philosophy films

I recently bought Eastern + Western Philosophy which is pretty interesting, but I was just curious if anyone else knows any other philosophical films/documentaries worth seeing (and I do own Waking Life). I want to start a philosophy collection at home with dvd’s but i’m struggling on finding any good ones.

Hi this might help arts.anu.edu.au/Philosophyandfil … search.asp

It might be a bit entry-level but Alain De Botton’s “The Philosophy Of Happiness” is quite good. It was a 6 part BBC TV series was made into a book and a DVD.

wow abc that holds the guide to happiness is charging $440 dollars for the series…that is insane and the other website, ANU doesn’t let you order any of those movies and more than 80% of them are not even on amazon…any other suggestions?

If anyone mentions Donnie Darko then I’m going to kill them. That movie couldn’t be less philosophical (or more sophistical) if it tried…

The Lion King.

That can’t be right. I bought my copy for about $40. It only has 6x half hour episodes. It’s surely not $440???

Check eBay. There’s a few crowds that sell new copies there for about what I paid.

“In the Name of the Rose” adaptation of Umberto Eco’s novel is surely a bonafide philosophical movie based on the settings of an Medieval monastery.

Equilibrium is pretty good.
