Put out or get out, German style

Hmmm…interesting. If you’re a woman 55 years of age or younger that’s been out of work for a year or more, you’d better be ready to work as a hooker if need be or face loss of unemployment benefits! Now that’s the type of progressive thinking we need in America!

What a waste…

Good old free market - ‘it would be too hard to distinguish between brothels and bars’ - you know, I don’t believe that it’s that hard to distinguish between a place selling drinks and maybe food and a place selling sex. Someone correct me if I’m wrong by all means but one tends to have a bar, with bottles and fridges behind it, some sort of till, people serving drinks; the other generally has scantily clad women, a lecherous wanker running the show, some hag on the reception and little to no ambiguity whatsoever that you are there to buy sex.

I have to admit there’s a certain poetry/symetry to it that I hadn’t considered. I’ve long thought prostitution should be legal, or at least decriminalized; as a Libertarian I don’t think the government has any right to regulate any use of your body that doesn’t injure another or cause them harm. So once the skin trade is legal, on some level one expects it to become more acceptable. How much of a stretch is it then to consider it a job like any other? It makes brilliant sense from the point of view of some pencil pushing buearocrat. And it brings to mind the old adage "be careful what you wish for.’
