Q&A about Islam

Like all Muslims, l would be reluctant to invite a Q&A about Islam because it is a big responsibility - but sometimes l think it’s necessary.

So, l propose a formal debate in the following format:

  • Me vs. maximum 2 opponents
  • 5 rounds, maximum 1,000 words each
  • Max. 1 question about Islam in any round, but a round could just be your followup to a prior round instead
  • As always, no logical fallacies, including false logical fallacy callouts (which default to non sequitur)
  • No idle insults, argue sincerely
  • The emphasis is on productive chat, results. Even: points scored. By all means, join if you want to score points, l’m not insecure about that.

This is just a debate request. Please don’t hijack the thread to make the request thread a debate in itself. What happens when you do that is, people jump in with arguments against my faith, l answer politely that l want a formal debate, then more accusations ensue, even if already answered.

Then, of course, someone else jumps in several days into it, and makes the same arguments all over again, albeit with wilder abandon.

The debate is the debate, this is just a request.

If anybody is interested just say so. That’s all that is needed.

It sounds interesting idea. I would like to participate.

Small info: I do not have any intention to insult religious people and their beliefs. I prefer to discuss more generally: how you see God, the interaction with humans, how we distinguish good from bad practice of religion etc. Historical references that I have in mind are not related to the prophet Mohammed.

If it is ok with you, count me in.

I guess we need opening statements too. Is this counted on the 5 rounds?

I don’t understand. Is it a Q&A or a debate? Are the people you’re inviting going to ask you questions, or debate you? What you’ve laid out doesn’t seem very clear.

as @Flannel_Jesus said, this doesnt seem like a QnA where you wanna clear your doubts.

and also i would like to remind you, there are some very important rules to keep a debate from becoming a rant or an argument.

success is to the one who realises he/she was wrong and admits to it.

also it may be the debater might not have known some argument or fact and expecting them to admit defeat immediately without letting them go and dwell on the arguments is irrational and is one of the sole reasons people dont wanna debate.
