religion for atheists?

i’m looking for for religions that don’t put a diety in the center of their teachings or beliefs… anybody here that could suggest some religions besides the one’s i’ve found so far would be a great help…

so far the ones i know of are satanism, buddhism, discordianism (if you would seriously consider that a religion), taoism and confucianism… as you can see almost all of these are eastern religions but i’m especially wanting to find more western traditons… what about certain forms of alchemy or certain forms of gnosticism???

Yes. Check out Hegel’s concept of the “Geist.”

The “Phenomenology of Spirit.”

You should read a little book by one Mr. Anton LaVey called the Satanic Bible.

Satanism is an atheistic religion.

that was the first religion i listed… i would recommend “The Devil’s Notebook”
over the “the satanic bible” though…

Oh bleh, my poor reading skills, I’m sorry.

Have you ever heard of the Fourth Way system written about by Peter Ouspensky during the mid-1900s? It’s not really a religion, but it’s a very interesting system for improving the functioning of one’s mind to obtain psychological unity and eliminate mindless behavior. It doesn’t involve any faith or higher power, and everything taught can be verified by self-observation. I would recommend looking into it. There are many books on it by Peter Ouspensky, check your local library.

You’re an atheist. You’re free. You’ve escaped. Why on Earth would you want to burden yourself with a new bloody religion?

Failing that, have you considered animism?

Sir I’d suggest to you that you take a longer look at Discordiansim.
Or hell man, stop being such a conformo and…

Invent your own freakn’ religion

Or better yet invent a religion disguised as a joke disguesed as a religion… oh wait, somebody already did that.fnord

Why do people invest time in a religion,

if you say u need to worship god if u believe in it, then do it in your own way!!

religion is nothing but a PLACEBO

Why do people invest time (and money) into going to the movies?

Entertainment. But religion gives people more than just something to do with their (insert sabbath here) mornings/evenings, it also provides peace of mind, answers to life’s questions, a higher perpose, and a sense of self-rightousness.

Yep, PLACEBO sums it up.

religion is like a grasshopper in an eggshell → once the eggshell cracks, the grasshopper can jump out, but he is still covered with slimy stuff, like yolk and that white stuff.

I suggest you cast off the stigma of religion and find your own answers. Then again you might be one of those people who require guidance. Just remember you don’t need someone else to agree with your view, or agree with someone else, for it to be correct.
