Comparing the situation in the comic to religion(s)? Well you could do that, but you should bare in mind that no one religion is or has ever been perfectly rational. In fact, it is the simply presence of faith that helps distinguish between “sommon knowledge” and religion(s).

There is a vast difference in having faith in that which is beyond reason, and quite another to put on the blinders of irrational ‘faith’ because the bible tell’s me so. To ignore reason, ‘common sense’, and experienced obdurate reality in favor of a literal interpretation of ‘sacred texts’ is, to put it mildly, ridiculous. That’s what the cartoon is saying.
