RIP Poss

RIP Poss

I buried Poss this afternoon. She was one of my first visitors when I arrived here and I took an instant liking to her. Her partner had died some months before I arrived which might account for her always looking lonely and lost. Poss loved company. Here are a few photos of her in happier days.

This one is of Poss coming to see me when she hears me opening the glass sliding doors in the top bedroom and then watches me as I lay in bed looking into the forest below.

Here’s one where I shone a torch onto her when she was trying to tell me something. I think it was about missing her partner. She sounded sad.

… and here’s a pic after she jumped from the tree to the bedroom balcony for a more intimate chat. I pretended I understood what she was saying, nodded my head occasionally and tried to repeat the noise back to her . She seemed to like that and we struck up a good friendship.

I’ll miss you Poss :frowning:

What kind of animal was Poss? I’m sorry…

Could it have been… #-o …a possum?

Sorry to hear of Poss’ passing.

I’m sure you were a good friend to her, but the loneliness after losing ones mate can cut deep. So kind that you listened to her and shared your experience with us.

I have a “friend” too, who has lost his mate some time ago, but he still chatters on about her.
Fortunately, I understand him and am trying to relocate him somewhere where he can find appropriate companionship.

RIP Poss, you were cherished.

P.S. Check your PM’s Chakra.

Sorry to hear, superstar.

Aren’t those things hostile and aggressive?

From what I understand, yes. But people befriend lions and tigers… there is usually a pussy behind a vicious reputation, apparently.

Congrats on your 420th post. I dunno about befriending rodent like animals that are nasty and mean dude.

Thanks – And to think, it only took just over seven years to achieve.

I don’t know if that particular possum looked nasty and mean, but I live in Australia, and there be Kangaroo’s. Giant, rodent like beasts whose favourite passtimes include jumping in front of cars, boxing, and being part of the Australian coat of arms.

To some people, they’re adorable apparently. Go figure.

Don’t they box as well?

 Thanks Nat. Hope all’s well in your neck of the woods?

=D> (Wow!! you got it first go. I’ll have to be a little more cryptic next time)

Hey, WC. Good to see you drop in again. Been thinking about you (and Sven and LA recently).

Hope you can still enjoy a scotch and cigar without the iron lung and dialysis machine. :-"

All wild animals are somewhat hostile and aggressive – even wild cats and dogs – so yes, possums can be aggressive, but that’s what I find fascinating about this area. The ‘wild’ life here, is very tame. I think it might have something to do with this area being a greenie / hippy region; people here are less likely to shoot or harass the animals.

I think we vastly underrate the intelligence, emotions and extra sensory abilities of animals. I’m able to watch them while I work so I’ve been able to see quite a lot of their relationships and personalities over time. I’m surprised that even frill-neck lizards can have, what we would call, personalities.

That was one thing that struck me about the house I’m now living in; it has ‘wild’ animals all over it. Animals live on the roof, under the house, in the garage and literally stroll along the side decks. I’ve had wild turkeys inside the house and wallabies jump the stairs to check the kitchen. I get along with all of them… except the turkeys (they destroy everything I plant) :imp:

I read an article recently about the Snake Mound being ‘gifted,’ with the video of the effort being posted on YouTube. Sven naturally came to mind, though I know it’s a little outside of his neck of the woods.

So far! And I know I’m drinking and smoking myself to a slow death, but then, I’m in no rush.

HOWDY, WC!!!

Good to see ya come out to wake Possum. Missed ya.

I think about Sven and LA too, Chakra. Why, Why, Why do we hold these kinetic energy attachments in our minds, hearts and soul when they come from such a distance ???

Anybody heard from LA? Or do the beaches in SA not get internet?

Haven’t heard from her but I suspect she’s doing well. She had net access in her beach house when she was at ILO but who needs to keep up with all the crap that’s happening when you can’t do anything about it? Best to enjoy what’s around you and do what you can where you.

Big shout out to her (and Sven) if they happen to pass by
