Russian Symbolism

The Babuska Doll is interesting expression of spirituality and community in the Russian Culture.
It is mostly thought of as a toy but what is its originating symbolism and expression.

I’ve always liked these dolls. They remind me of the general structure of the universe and how everything seems to be connected to one another. Always the same but always different. Planets and moons acting like nuetrons and electrons. Giant trees that look like tiny trees. Just the universe in a nutshell… er, dollshell.

Agreed, someone once told me that they also symbolize motherhood - one generation after the other after the other after the other.
They said that we think we live independently but we are within many layers of our family history.
And I always thought they were toys… maybe they were but they also appeared to send a message to people.
I find symbolism amazing - something in symbolism that words can never describe.

Stephen Hawking …

Yup, there is something about them that is very simple and very deep at the same time. I should get some off of amazon…

I saw some symbolism going for next to nothing on ebay - maybe try there.
