Schopenhauer, Kierkegaard, and Nietzsche walk into a bar. .

If the three philosophs were to hold a conversation amongst each other, what topic would they most likely talk about?

What would be each one’s stand on art? on suicide?

Thought this might be an interesting topic . . .

Nietzsche heads for the piano, it being the only soulful thing in the room. Kierkegaard is lost outside of the city in which he spent his whole life, he sits in the corner watching Schopenhauer hit on some frauleins…

Eventually the three meet and a conversation ensues…

actually, schopenhauer would have gone to the piano… for him, an escape from the will can only be achieved in the contemplation of purely formal music…

but schopenhauer had an ally in kierkegaard for they both detested hegel… their conversation would have been along the lines “gee that hegel sure is dumb…”

nietzsche embrased the will that schopenhauer feared so he would have walked off alone…

Did Kierkegaard fear the will too?

Poor Nietzsche, all alone.

Why did Schopenhauer and Kierkegaard fear the will?

Actually, I would like to know what Kierkegaard’s and Schopenhauer’s views of Christianity were. How did each of them view the soul? How were their philosophies different? the same?

read fear and trembling by kierkegaard (and if you really want to read him, get either/or (both parts))

for schopenhauer, the world as will and idea is the book…
