Science vs the Universe?

Do you think that one day science will be able to explain all of the physical phenomenon in the universe? Why or why not? I think that it will, as the last couple centuries have flown by, we have learned more and more about our universe and how it works. Alot of things that we used to cast off as being non-physical have been proven to simply be ever smaller bits of matter doing various things according to the laws the govern their behavior, and there aint much left. You gota remember, we are learning stuff faster in the last 200 years then we ever did before hand (i didnt do any resaerch here or anything but i assume its pretty much true) Imagine what we could learn in anouther 1000. What one day seems strange in the universe, will someday be rationalized by science.

I think more people are becoming less ignorant to the facts of the universe and even becoming interested in the truth of them. Remember though, some phenomenon are still theory. There are still alot of theories in science and as the past has shown, a lot of theories can be disproven. In my opinion, I don’t think we will ever come to a true 100% truth about everything. There would be no point in life after that except to live. When all desires are filled and there is nothing more to aspire to then life will be boring. But that will never happen. We want to “know” everything because we know that we will never “know” everything.

Hello.

This is good question. I believe there to be a basic (and I mean basic in the sense that once we understand something well enough, it becomes basic) “equation”, a set of rules, that governs all things by necessity, and all of the more complicated phenomenon stem from that basic equation.

I do think science can explain it all, and I don’t think desire will ever be filled. Desire cannot be filled. It is a human trait (at least) and is desire because it cannot be filled (permanently), regardless if it is a desire for knowledge, sex, food, contentment… I agree we can’t “know” everything, but it doesn’t mean we can’t explain everything very simply. If I or everyone were to spontaneously “know” everything, there would still be brotherhood. I don’t believe knowledge to be the driving force of human life…

Thanks for listening =)

I agree… everything can be explained. But the explanation may not be completely accurate and valid. But that is why we try to validate our explanations.

Good point. How to compensate for that element of the unknown?
Also, I like the quote. It hits close to home!

Thanks. And thanks for your replies. I agree with your point that knowledge, although it may seem, is not the driving force in the world.
