Should Substances Be Controlled?

well then i should at least be able to steal. burn the flag… open peoples mail… how many criminal offensese can you think up that dont involve physical pain?

you have absolutely no reason to believe that except for wishful thinking though. drugs were once legal you know. it doesnt always work out well.

there is more of a mischievious attraction to something that is illegal, if certain drugs were legal there would not be as much as an attraction to misuse them.

with alcohol which is legal, there was long period in your teenage life (if you come from America, where drinking age is 21) where it was illegal for you to drink alcohol. thus when you got a hold of the ‘illegal alcohol’, it seemed obvious to you that the only way to use it would be to misuse it, these are the people who like to get really drunk. because their intial reaction to the ‘thing’ is that it is something mischievious and as they can first remember it ‘off limits’.

that is why other drugs make kids feel ‘cool’, its the mischievious factor that makes them go crazy, they go off on this fabricated ‘cool image’ and fuck up thier lives with drugs.

anything that has a restriction on it will be misused, if you cant get your hands on it when you finally do you feel ‘special’ and you go crazy with whatever it is.
that is the crux of my arguement here and I think that if you have read this through you will begin to understand what i am saying.

if your a child yes i can understand what youre saying. otherwise people care about their health or they care about the high itself. the only people that do drugs to fit in are teenagers or idiots who havent matured passed the 12th grade. its the same people that feel the need to drive fast to impress girls or insult people to sound cool. the rest of the world gets along without being a dangerous asshole just fine.

so when people overdose and die its because they were out dealing drugs?

no its because people are stupid…they get into drugs usually because they are attracted by the ‘counter-culture’ and the counter-culture thrives on drugs because drugs are considered to counter society, because they are illegal.
once again people are stupid…they want to fit in, their friend does hardcore drugs (he does them because he/she thinks it cool to do illegal drugs, and he/she thinks that he is cool) and gets them to smoke…crack, for instance.
they smoke the crack, get high and equate the getting high to everything forementioned…counter-culture, coolness, popularity (well among these people), ect…and the drug is physcially addictive, they continue using it…
confused stupid people, they wouldnt get their hands on this in the first place or care about it if it wasnt for the counter-culture…

the only effect peer pressure has on people is exposure. if youre not around the drugs youre not going to go seeking out a subculture to fit into. people do drugs with friends because theyre around them and theyre easy to get ahold of. but we can argue this all we want. i have no stats and you probably dont either. unless youre a psychologist or know one this arguement is pretty pointless.

you know there is a legal hallucinogen? its called salvia. have you heard of it?
nope, you haven’t because its not illegal. no-one cares about legal drugs…its the illegal ones that are fun!!! lets try those…lets be cool and do the illegal drugs.

its all physcological, its because most people don’t even realize when they are under the spell of society and their friends, the drugs are a crutch, a social crutch. and they use this crutch in all aspects of their life.
so from now on, once they realize that they suck at life and have been hiding behind the drugs their entire life, they simply continue to use the drugs to feel ‘better’, and they live in denial…

cough syrup, dust off, embalming fluid… legal. there are plenty more. the counter culture of huffing paint? yea its got a huge following. they coordinate outfits.

yes… the chinese had no idea what opium was until they made it illegal. i mean… logically that doesnt even make sense. the drug had to be discovered and then used before it was made illegal.

its true. i hate when people smoke or use drugs around me. i also hate the fact that people are too lazy to quit anything despite the fact that its been done by millions upon millions of people. i think its rude and stupid.

i know what the attraction is to these other drugs…kids think its cool because its illegal, the more mischievious something is, the cooler it is. the power that ‘cool’ has over society is amazing.

because the reason these drugs were invented, was to make money.
because they were illegal they could create something that could be sold for high prices and was not very costly to make.
‘criminals’ experienced with illegal stuff cooked it up.

respectable people involved with legal endevours dont cook up fuckin crack, or meth or heroin.

yep… the native americans smoked pot and tobacco because they were looking to start a major corporation thousands of years down the line

before i even get started id just like to say that you have very silly opinions…you sound overly conservative to the point where it blurs your judgement.

no, property is property, that is not a valid arguement, choices don’t have to do with property. when you take drugs the only property you are effecting is your own, not someone elses.

my arguement is very useful actually, what i am saying is that if the counter-culture never existed, there would be not be the attraction towards drug use that there is in teenagers today…

the only reason they do these drugs, is cause they know about illegal drugs, and they are trying to get a similar effect from these legal substances. i dont think people would resort to using these legal medicines, paint thinner, ect… to get high if they didnt already have this attraction to getting high brought on by counter-culture.

chinese people dont fucking shoot up heroin, they smoke opium which is far less dangerous i might add, although very addictive.
opium is what heroin is derived from.

of course the native americans did not invent peyote or tobbaco or marijuana they just used it as it grew naturally.

that your counter culture theory is probably wrong.

it doesnt matter i cant prove it and you cant prove it. the best we could do is poll a bunch of people who would give dishonest and confused answers and then get a psychologist to nod in agreement to it. the only thing i can say is i dont think social influences matter at all to drug addicts. if it did people would quit when the 90% of non drug users tell them to.
