Found this link of Satyr’s forum, from a old movie, it appears to be a forrunner of Frank Herbert’s Siaynoq theory, which was the natural synergy of two competing lines of evolution which checked one another’s advance. In Dune, it was the worms that kept the fremen in check, and the fremen, especially via Leto II, forced their evolution- it’s was a unconscious tug of war… in the beginning it was fremen orgies using spice, a byproduct of the worm and living in harsh environments, killed by the worm and yet using it as a means of travel and sustainable economics- via eating the spice and trading it, and using it to expand their longevity and psychological capacity. After the God Emperor’s reign, they went back to a era of living with the worm, relearning the patterns of walking on the sand, adapting a method of dance that the worm either would accept, or reject and kill them instantly. This is that stage, this link above. During the god emperor’s reign, it fed off the idolatry of his female army, who could be described as maternal fascist, being a all female army.
Siaynoq was never the same from era to era, yet it played upon and was fed the same unconscious pattern in man’s cognitive response, evolving man and worm together in a shared destiny. It was always bloody, and always harsh… save for it’s most oppressive and controlling forms- the degenerate Fish Speaker State of absolute fascism… which if done right could be quite pleasurable, but absolutely suffocating in terms of the survival of the species.
