So, how many have YOU read?

Also, would you care to add any to the list?

My own personal favorite: Daniel Martin by John Fowles.

buzzfeed.com/louispeitzman/t … -ever-read

I read Daniel Martin a while back and it IS or at least was one of my favorites too.I remember a scene, but not too much about it, well, I remember the experience of it as i read it - one of the most beautiful and awesome, where Daniel was standing in front of the ocean under the stars (unless I am confusing that with Alyosha’s transcendent moment from The Brothers Karamazov) and he flowed into such a life-changing epiphany. Experiences such as these transcend both space and time. The passage was absolutely beautiful and profound…heart-rending. Just thinking about it now is giving me the shivers. The French Lieutenant’s Woman by him was also a really good book.

Lisey’s Story by Stephen King was a great book and kind of a challenge in parts, not in the same way a philosophy book would be ~ intellectually ~ but emotionally. Also, The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson was too but even more so than Lisey’s Story. I cried through so much if not most of it.,.such a beautiful book about love and transcendence and what the human spirit is capable of.

Books like that are almost impossible to put down and you’re almost sad when you’ve finished reading them. Ah books … And one can never forget Dostoevsky’s Crime and Punishment ~ I loved Fyodor ~ now there was one who knew human nature and he wasn’t even a psychologist but he could have been.

And we can never forget The Count of Monte Cristo - I so loved that book.

Kafka rocks :animals-frog:

It’s an odd list. I’ve read many of them.

The House of Leaves

should be on that list.

The Bible - because it is hard to read, especially to read like, say, a novel.

In Search of Lost Time

Dahlgren
