Solved a Riddle

Too long has the Dark Side held sway over name-calling!

Too long has any and almost every categorization been deemed dismissive!

Quentin Tarantino is a collage artist.

Or, to put into question form: What is the reason that name-calling by categorizing is always usually deemed evil?

I wouldn’t label name-calling as evil–Do you? I’d say name-calling is rude, puerile, hurtful, and the sign of a mind that can’t think of anything else to say. It’s often thought of as a logical fallacy (ad hominem), but it would only be ad hominem if someone said, “You’re stupid and all of your ideas are stupid.” Then there’s indirect name-calling–“That’s a lie,” which indirectly calls the person who made the statement a liar.

Which brings up the question of logic–Is logic more than a system of thinking as expressed in rhetoric and/or writing? Logic is maths put into words, really–except logic doesn’t prove reality–nor does it disprove anything. It takes repeated empirical test results to even present a scientific theory. Hopefully, logic (mathematical structure) leads to the model that comprises the various tests. But what’s supposedly called for in forums is rhetorical logic. That should start with a premise most people accept as ‘truth.’

That would make your question, Pezer, illogical–name-calling isn’t always–or even usually–thought of as ‘evil.’
