strange thoughts about "god"

This dilemma has always been used by atheists…

If god is perfect why did he create us? (the obviously imperfect)

And here is my answer.

Imagine yourself living for eternity with the power to do everything.

You probably could make yourself experience everything and it is my beliefe that you would eventually get extremely bored.

The only rational thing for him to do would either be to make himself forget everything and then re-live it all over again, but that would be redundant.

What remains is to create something and let it go free from your power, let it do something suprising (in a limited sense) or even let it do something necessary (like living part of the experiences)

I used to think about the idea that it is possible we are all aliens playing a virtual game. Our own lives are boring because we know soo much that we forget everything and enter into this world for entertainment. a challenge to ourselves at minimum just to pass the time.

God would have created us at minimum out of boredom. perhaps we are all “god” but we are just “experiencing everything” one small part at a time.

It’s kind of difficult to articulate myself on this one, does any of this make sense to anyone?

Sure it does. I also kind of think that he and Satan are just playing a really sick game of chess with us too.

Until we have all the real answers we just have to guess or have faith in what we believe.

Wonderer

Wiki Hindu cosmology. They got there first…

It’s quite jumbled on wiki. Too many names for my taste

but it does seem to fit with my beliefs about what an ultimate being would choose to do with himself…

Perhaps ill read more (among many other things)

I think it actually sounds a little more like Norse mythology. Humans were created for no particular reason other than the boredom of the gods.

I think someone, maybe Milton, also articulated an idea that was somewhat similar. God got bored with the Angels since they lacked free will. And when he tried to give one of them free will, well that didn’t work out too well. Humans are a much safer bet in that regard.

i didn’t quite say that. i said that it was at least boredom from which the gods created us.

too bad this god (if one exists) seems to do nothing but sit on his ass. Do we have the right to resent him?

I don’t think an atheist would say something like that.
An atheist would say : “god? nope, no god here.”
As far as “why did he create us?”
That’s out of the question if he didn’t create us.

Atheism is a disbelief not a belief.

If you’re argueing for creationism,
You’ll have to disproove things like evolution, as those are belief systems not disbeliefs.

Oh wait, some all mightly perfect super intelligences were so smart
That they got bored,
And felt the need for something really ignorant, weak and stupid?

That doesn’t sound very sane to me.
It’s like Einstien spending 10 years sticking nanking cherries up his ass
And screaming.

Except it’s God, making Satan, and all of that.

Aren’t you starting with an assumption about how much God is like us? If so, that question is really the problem isn’t it? I mean we don’t know.

why do they rule each other out, why couldnt the universe be “created”, but also inside of creation laws dictate that evolution must occur?

i’m not arguing for anything. i’m mulling thoughts around in my brain and writing them down on this website.

If you ask an atheist to defend his disbelief then he might say “why did got create us imperfectly”.

also why is evolution so stigmatic against creationism? i am not a bible litteralist. i dont believe in the bible.

i am an agnost.

you could say that. i am assuming that god is concious, and i am making deductions and inferences about how an all powerful all knowing conciousness would act (however much of a guess it might be)

But if God is perfect i.e. complete in himself as orthodox christian dogma maintains, then he would never get bored.

why should i believe that a book contains the “word of god” (not in a christian sense).

Even in the bible they were given stone tablets engraved by lightning, and god also made several appearences.

The Christian god, the "jelous" god, the johnny come lately god, “jehova”, to me seems completely UNorthadox and unrealistic even in a metaphysical godly sense.

If your god is jelous then why not bored, why not angry, happy, sad, hateful, loving. you should look to re-evaluate your idea of perfect.

I was not trying to incinuate anything christian or deny it.

I’m not saying that you should. Boredom is no more or less anthropomorphic than jealousy. I see no rational basis for attributing either emotion to God literally.

is it fair to postulate that even god isn;t “perfect”?

Sure, people do it all the time. But I think Anselm was right that, if there is a God, he would have to be a being than which nothing greater can be conceived. If we conceive of God as imperfect, than a God who is perfect is greater. So God conceived of as imperfect is not God.

but the more perfect god is imaginary. for all intents and purposes the big guyIS the god, he just doesn’t fit our preconcieved notion of god.

when some people say god, perfection is implied.

we don’t even know if perfection can exist.

The most complex machine can always be made more comples and the simplest expression can always be dumbed down.

i mysel instinctually look for perfection in extremes. maximum efficiency or maximum simplicity or maximum potential, but by default by imagining things in terms of scales i can always imagine something greater than a maximum.

does perfection exist? if so can we percieve of it?

perfection: something that will never need change.

this is why i identify with pantheism.

but still the unknown remains, does god or perfection exist?

I don’t know. But if he does, he’s perfect.

how do you know perfection exists.

what if god is merely our creator.
