hello marcus,
I read a book a couple years ago I think it was titled “the bloody history of free masonry” but I am not positive at the moment. The author had formulated the theory, and I have no idea who the man is, or his ultimate credibility compared to others in his field, that free masonry had been born out of the downfall of the knights templar. I have no idea of this is what you are loooking for, but if it is something that sounds interesting to you I could dig up the book and provide you with that information so you can come to your own conclusions.

Does the Freemasonry have much philosophical implication? I dont think it’d be easy to argue for it. Maybe if you were writing the topic for a political or historical thesis, it’d be more fitting. Sorry not to be of much help but maybe you should consider changing your plan.
