People are more willing to take criticism than I realized.
They even appreciate it pretty often.
I had no idea until recently.
On Thursday, I was walking with my friend.
The conversation got to ethics somehow.
Then, it switched immediately to him telling me to accept Christ.
That got me fucking riled up, hardcore.
Very forcefully, I told him things like,
“Dude, you’re WAY to arrogant about your religion,”
or
“Dude, the way you tell me about your beliefs is so condescending.”
I told him, also (and this is true),
“You’ve pissed so many people off with your preaching, dude. Stop!”
For a minute, he was kinda hurt.
At first, he thought I was attacking his beliefs.
I explained to him that I’m not trying to tell him his beliefs are wrong,
but just that the way he expresses them is very annoying and offensive.
After that, he thanked me.
We didn’t have uncomfortable conversations.
If anything, we were more comfortable.
He even bought me a taco.
Wow.
Just now, I was talking to this girl.
I told her my thoughts, as I often do,
and she replied with “okays” and “alrights”, as she often does.
I explained to her why talking to her was like pulling teeth.
She wasn’t hurt, or at least didn’t express that she was hurt,
and she understood thoroughly and agreed.
I’m almost never openly critical of someone.
Sometimes, though, I break.
I let loose.
I have to tell them what’s up.
And, generally, they’ve been pretty receptive.
Just putting that out there.
Thanks for reading.
Have a nice day.
Thats kinda cool. Has it insired you to listen when people critisise you? Not saying that you do or don’t do this already, just curious

I can understand that. Its especially difficult to accept critisism on the net I have noticed. I think that its all about the way that the criticism is conveyed and it is often not very subtle on here.

I can take critizim if it comes from someone I respect.
A lot of people tell me I’m crazy. I usually enforce it with a “keep that in mind.”

Taking critique is wrapped up in ego and self esteem. Artist/ creative types tend to not take criticism easily. Technically minded types tend to not let it affect them and take it for honest help in order to achieva a goal. If you have poor esttem or low threshold of ego it will harm you if done without tact. Otherwise folks tend to blow it off or use it to their advantage.

Dirt sits on face; bad…
Friend fixes face, makes face good;
Ego replaced dirt.
