Teachers: Double Their Salary and Quantity

i’m sick of people assuming the worst (no offense)

it is easy to see that it is easier to live in australia then america. i mentioned nothing of thinking power or betterness.

it was friendly advice.

it would be a shame if you didn’t use that IQ and learned knowledge to make life easier for yourself and others.

Do you know the definition of man? Does it say that the point of life is ease?

Apathy is Easy. I don’t believe you realized what you were saying.

I don’t think he was suggesting apathy. It’s obvious from your posts that you’ve had a very difficult life thus far. I think Wonderer was just offering options to try to lighten some of your suffering…

The point I have been stressing is between the particular and the universal. I know neither he nor you get it.

Let me explain it this way. When you look at a table, made of wood, you know it is a table by its form. If you could only see the wood, you could and would think it to be anything you choose at any time. When you look at ideas and structures of words it is the same, if you do not see the form, but only the particulars, well, you don’t see at all.

As particulars is to the wood, so the universal is to the form.
As enumeration is to the wood, so the definition is to the form.

One can effect judgment only by using the definition, when our minds cannot use definition (form) it must rely on enumeration, but that is blind–that is what it means when the mind wanders in darkness. Learning by rote means the same thing, enumeration, learning judgment is the only alternative to todays education. I was demonstrating, as usual.

It is with definition, form, that one uses standards of reference, Plato was right when he said the salvation of Man can only be had through the art of measurement.
j.c.

Depends on Perspective, I guess.
From this Perspective, at the moment, the “‘art’ of measurement”, is one subjective method of isolating arbitrary segments of the ‘Whole’ into bite-sized portions; ‘things in themselves’; nonsense. From this tree springs people who feel at odds with his fellow man, alone amongst the stars, insecure, unstable, frightened, always measuring, measuring, defining, … trying to divide the night…
The Xtian architect god of the Masons, measuring existence into Being with his ‘sacred tools’…

“For every Perspective, there is an equal and opposite Perspective.” First Law of Soul Dynamics -Book of Fudd (1:1)

I dont mean to offend but those who boast a high IQ tend to be lying

Perhaps your understanding of words is at fault. Is language even possible unless every word you use is determined by a standard?

Usually. But then when does simply stating what one has been told become a boast. I can demonstrate the Delian Solution. Everyone else said it was not possible. Granted it took me ten years to solve, so maybe it don’t count. Deliansolution.us, there is a java graphic of the solution.

Or look at my signiture, that was another impossible problem, so it was said, I can show you the solution step by step. But that one was easy–it relies solely on convention of names.

I let Deliansolution.com go and I have not worked on the site for a few years, but I trust what I have left at Deliansolution.us, you can measure yourself against. I do provide evidence for my words.

Canada’s school systems seem to crush america’s, at least in terms of the type of marks students recieve for things like math and sciences on the national level. I can assure you, that every canadian teacher that I ever met, didn’t deserve 1/4th of their pay, let alone double it.

Not that the schools in canada aren’t a joke, but paying them more isn’t going to help when its the material which they teach and how they teach it *which is largely dictated by other people, which is the problem.

I had a sociology teacher who said she didn’t understand natural selection or why creationism and evolution weren’t viewed as equal ‘theories’ which would be fine, but we had a giant section on darwin and biology that was essentially incomprehensible because of her bullshit.

The way in which classes are taught needs to change, this requires a fundamental changing of the education system (i’m not saying it has to be torn down first, rarely does tearing down help reform. Slow systematic changes, perhaps)

Teachers need to be picked better.

I didn’t have one teacher that ever inspired me to do anything, but to get the fuck away from them, considering that I have this unquenchable desire for knowledge, this unquenchable desire to endlessly read, how fucked up is that? A student reading 8 hours a day of science outside of highschool, should be inspired at least JUST ONCE, in class, by a suggestion, by anything.

My marks in highschool biology were like high 90s, we wrote notes upon endless notes every class from the board from our textbooks, I had to listen to this blow-hard biology teacher lecture for hours and hours and hours.

At the end of it all, I looked at my mark 95+ thought about what we went over the year, I picked up a popular science book on the way home, the popular sciencee book which I read in about an hour to three, gave me MORE INFORMATION than an ENTIRE HIGHSCHOOL OF BIOLOGY, it explained things in greater depth with greater understanding and ability to impart that understanding to me.

In highschool biology 12 we learned a lot about genes and dna, none of it really made a huge amount of sense to me because they gave us this information outside of the science in which we could hope to understand it.

talking endlessly about dna and genes is great, but if you don’t understand the molecular basis of these things, how they operate on the molecular level (at least a real introduction to those things and the rationality behind them) its harder to have a real understanding of biology. An analogy here or there or a mention is all it would take.

Biology texts and books (everyone i’ve read outside of highschool) explains the logic/rationality behind things. Evolution and biology doesn’t make much sense outside of the types of conceptual frame-works that hold them, if you’re not taught that genes are the unit of selection, large amounts of biology just don’t make any sense.

anyway 3 hours you can get the same education/information and better, than it takes to get through school in years. Thats a fucking problem, and its not even neccessarily the teachers envolved.

Keep in mind i’m talking about a small popular science book that is like 30 years old, giving you a better understanding of modern biology than years of schooling. That shit doesn’t make any coherent sense to me.

Let alone reading any real text.

Someone reading ‘molecular biology of the cell 3rd edition’ which say, for a casual read should take a month even for a really busy/and or slow person. A month, tops, to read somthing which would contain more information than going through highschool 300x.

Seriously, if I can read one text and revolutionize my understanding of biology and have indepth information the which of likes the teachers envolved don’t understand at all, what was the fucking point of the last 10years of science classes I took throughout school?

They didn’t inspire an interest in science in me, they didn’t educate me in science, all it did was steal years of my life that i’ll never ever get back. I realize its a huge oppertunity for people who need *tutors, and its a huge oppertunity for people so poor they can’t get education anywhere else.

As for me though, I could have learned my entire highschool education in half a year, spending an hour or two a day online, and I took all the ‘hard’ science and math classes. The school systems are not arranged around a modern world and that includes the speed in which scientific advancement takes place.

people at school, ,highschool that is, are not being taught ‘modern biology’ in the sense that people envolved in indepdent education would be.

The human mind is one of the slowest systems of the human body to develop. Certain abilities of judgment do not mature till after the organism is 20 years old. Learning to repeat facts, is not educating the mind.

Since we use language to process information, it becomes a matter of simple following that it is linguistic ability that has something to do with mental ability.

One starts with the human body, those systems whose operation insure our life. If one knew the principles of metaphor, or “dark speaches” in the Scripture, one would come to understand 7 life systems used to negotiate with the environment so that we can live.

Behind each of them is the language of “A thing”. Plato did not believe that the fullness of this language was to be taught before a person reached the age of about 30. I, on the other hand, believe that since language is conventional, it is best to teach correct practices from the very start of language. However, since it has never been done, and I am still in the exploritory phases of my studies, and since I am usually depressed over certain things, my progress is slow. I get the feeling I am just downright retarded. However, I still believe that the seven life senses of the body each can produce a language, one or more that should be conventionalized and taught so that a person, first and foremost knows themselves. In knowing themselves, they know others, as the definition of man is one.

I’m sure that intelligence and vocabulary might be statistically linked, but its not a direct link. plenty of really smart people are bad with words. Theres also like genetic abnormalities that produce people incapable of normal speech but they’re not like, below average intelligence.

We create new words for new concepts, everyone’s been in a position where they had a hard time expressing their meaning/conceptions, because the words in which to explain oneself, aren’t readily there, new scientific discoveries.

People engage in all sorts of complex thought that require them to create massive and new language tools in which to explain them to other people. If intelligence is linked to language, for all practical applications when talking about actual humans, theres no real connection.

Knowing oneself is probably one of the most important things a person can do, what that has to do with seven life senses, or oldschool philosphers like plato, i’m not really sure. If someone wanted to know ‘themselves’ the first area of research might be the giant like 99% of brain activity which we’re constantly unaware of, consciousness is the tip of the iceberg when it comes to brain activity.

Some of this stuff might not matter when it comes to knowing yourself, like the control by brain exerts over my body temperature or heart-rate might not be that important, the type of unconscious shit that people do day in and day out, is more important, though.

I’ll give you an example of somthing which I think is important. its important for all males who plan to be fathers, to consciously know, to consciously be aware of the fact that males in general tend to make judgements about how related their children are based on facial resembelence. Its important because statistically theres a trend for fathers to treat sons more poorly if they look nothing like them.

Its important because I doubt fathers who treat their children badly on the basis that they don’t look like them, are generally unawre that they’re engaging in it. Fathers who get upset more often at adopted children than real children, probably don’t realize their temper is short because of THAT REASON, if they realized these statistical trends, people realize that its fucking horrible, they realize that ‘hey my actions might be in part controlled by mental adaptations that are unconscious or at least predispose my to feel certain things like anger’

when people make these conscious realizations, it becomes our ability to control them, even if its difficult. thats why its important to know thyself.

I think you bring up an excellent point here, Cyrene. The curricula at most schools in the US target towards the middle to lower end of the curve. This means that many of the brighter kids are stuck in a very frustrating holding pattern. I know nothing about the Canadian system but it sounds like you were a victim of that. It’s pretty obvious you were a “gifted” (hate that word) student and I imagine it would’ve been tough for almost any teacher to satisfy your learning needs.

In our school district, very few of the elementary schools have adequate programs for high achieving students, which means paying a small fortune in private school tuition if you want your child to be challenged. It’s worth every cent, though, and I would gladly pay more taxes if it meant improving our public schools. It just kills me when I think of how much money is being spent every day on Iraq (much of which goes into contractors like Halliburton’s pockets) when that money could be devoted to education.

what is the point of your life? are you a man?

is it your family? then make their lives easy.

i don’t desire statues to be constructed of me. all i am concerned with is my happiness till death.

If is ever become a father it might change and i wil be concerned with the happiness of my son more than my own.

simple being; simple pleasure.

I am posting an essay, The Beast.

Perhaps it will answer some of your questions. It contains some errors.
