Give me some examples of these mistakes and how to admit them–I’m not quite sure what you’re getting at north.

There will come an age when this planet has been reduced to powder. It will not come soon enough.
Black,
You linked articles about arguments for explaining the connection between genetics and religion. Though, the connection is not necessary nor direct. They are indirect.
Your premise and point of a relationship between evolved-psychology and religious views seems fatally flawed.

Or… moralists will keep the dream-worlds going. The verdict has not yet been read on the human race, although it does look disastrous at the present point in time.

I do not believe that religion is simply an antiquated way of explaining the world.(ie. prior to/in place of science)
It seems like it is deeply ingrained into the human psyche. It goes hand in hand with our craving for explanations: not just what and how, but why. I guess the same could be said of philosophies in general.
So, I admit to being hasty in my conclusion that this was “fact”. It does seem highly probable. Theories abound as to why. Could putting faith into things(be it religion, guidelines, philosophies, or science) simply be a way of protecting higher-ordered, reasoning organisms from the brutal realities of the universe? Couldn’t “faith” be viewed as a survival mechanism, allowing creatures of reason to survive despite their intellectual capacities(which could be a threat to life if/when they lead to nihilistic conclusions)? This is all baseless speculation and rambling of sorts. I haven’t fully thought the matter over, and as is the case with my views in general, it is subject to change without notice. ![]()

There’s no doubt about that. However, philosophy leaves the inquirer guessing (for the most part I hope). I think it’s more ‘clear’ in terms of its ideologies. There are no ‘secrets’; there are no ‘absolutes’ (beyond the metaphysical/abstract). That is why I personally enjoy philosophy. We can tear it all down, build it all back up again, or just trace it through history and laugh at ourselves…

Yes, yes, and yes.
It seems like religion is a defense-mechanism against infinite chaos. However, I do not believe it deserves high creed or over-analysis, because it is a product of moral language. Morality itself even bridges farther than religion-itself, except not far enough to correctly describe “human nature”. We’re all ignorant of things, some just more-so than others.
I feel like religious and moral limitations is somewhat of a choice for a person to “play life at a disadvantage”. Why limit the possibilities of human existence from the get-go?
