The dangers of transhumanism

What are some dangers of transhumanism and technocracy?

and as usual, failing to understand if, IF, this is
even a problem…

First thing, define what exactly do you mean by transhumanism?
I am deaf, legally deaf, and I wear a hearing aid, (that means less
and less everyday) is wearing a hearing aid, considered to be
transhumanism? One of the problems with Medicare, is that
they don’t cover three areas… vision, teeth and… hearing…
I am to the point of only being able to hear with a cochlear implant…
even with Medicare, assuming they even accept that diagnosis,
is a cochlear implant, considered to be transhumanism?
Is wearing glasses, as I do, is that considered to be transhumanism?
or are contacts considered to be transhumanism? You have to lay
out your terms so we have a sense of what you are getting at…
so, what is transhumanism and why would one consider it bad given
it can help people hear, or see or walk or talk?

That is not Transhumanism, Kropotkin. That’s simply day-to-day living.

The problem with Trannies and tequila chasing is another story. Woah Mexico

Think about the biggest flaw. Anything technologically advanced will breakdown or get hacked. If EVERYTHING was technology, someone would totally crash it and/or hack into it to take over the world. That means say goodbye to Transhumanism and whatever Technology you were hooked up to like in the Matrix. People would die, everything would be crashing and burning. Screams would be howling.

NO. WAY. Riddle solved.

It makes it too easy on stupid people who would be hooked up to it and also too easy on evil people who would take advantage of the situation and use it to kill everyone. Things are already like that with modern Technology. Imagine it getting worse.

That’s exactly what trans humanism means on a deeper level, which transsexuals correlate with ancient mythic Gnosticism: that is the facility with which they can think through it on two often contradictory levels. , and arrive at a reconciliation , a failsafe zone, for an inestimable time being. Perhaps until it blows over, to the vanishing point , where there’s would be forgotten.

Lol.

For a very simple starter: By the very definition of the word transhuman… that you’d be no longer human.

Let’s go with a basic definition Peter.

“Transhumanism is a philosophical and scientific movement advocating for the use of emerging technologies—like genetic engineering, AI, and nanotechnology—to fundamentally enhance human capabilities. It aims to radically increase human healthspans, cognitive functions, and physical abilities, ultimately striving to evolve humanity into a “posthuman” state.”

It shows how pleasure and euphoria in this emotional, physical way is built upon a drug-like system in the body. The body uses drugs to control us in certain key instances of great importance, like to ensure reproduction or to cause us to fight or flight when confronted with danger.

Nothing wrong with that, except when humans become so intelligent we figure out how to hack the drug system in our brains. We already do this with things like alcohol and actual drugs, also pron and video games and so much of modern society, but soon technology will allow perfect robotic and VR-immersive ways to take the hacking of our biological drug systems to a whole new level.

Why do you think opiates are not legal anymore? Because if they were, most people (myself included) would lose most interest in other things most of the time. When you can experience perfect bliss, what else matters?

Maybe it was an evolutionary flaw that we were made with drug factories in our brains. Sure these proved an efficient answer to our survival back then, but at what eventual cost?

Humans will need to become a lot more aware, self-aware, and philosophical if they are to survive the dangers of transhumanism. Simple avoidance is not going to work for long because these technologies and many others like it, even greater than it, are already on the way. We might ignore them or moderate our usage in our lifetimes, but that ignores the next generations who won’t be able to do that. We should be trying to figure this out, help the future develop new ways and new strengths to rise above these threats… then again, maybe it is just in our nature as the kind of beings we are, to fall into these dangers and vanish therein, into a void of our own making. The perfect reflection of our longings, ignored needs and unknown intentions all along.

Correct definition, but it downplays the significance of the post human. In transhumanism, the post human is something beyond human, a new kind of entity entirely. Like human 2.0. It may have nothing in common with us, or very little. It may not value us at all, or see us as ants. The transhumanists do not care, they worship the idea of the post human and dedicate themselves to bringing it into existence.

The post human is similar to the notion of singularity. Once singularity is achieved, they think the post human will arrive. We don’t know what it will be, that is the point. Transhumanism in this way is just another religion operating on blind faith and the more or less hidden psychological pathologies of the adherents.

The augmentations we commonly think of with transhumanism, like brain chips or cyborg arms or whatever, are just the first stage. Human augmentation is not the same as post human nor is it intended to be in any final analysis. The post human will simply emerge from singularity, it will in essence self-create itself. At that point, the transhumanists think they will be rewarded for helping bring it into existence, they believe it will give them eternal life :upside_down_face:

One set of dangers, you could be hackable or controllable from outside.

Another is that you have people who may not be that in touch with their emotions, reorganizing your nervous system and endocrine system. Technocrats who, even with the best intentions, may tweak you in ways that haven’t the slightest respect for your core self. And that’s a real danger even if their intentions are warm and fuzzy.

When machine and computer merges with people, at what point is all of humanity stripped of its original nature completely?

When do human beings stop being human beings?
