The love of wisdom means to me (understanding). Todays philosophy seems to have the same understanding as it did in Aristotle’s day. People today live by their experiences as a society. Society as a whole never changes regardless of the culture. But society is so diversified we cannot agree on anything because of our cultural differences. Even the meaning of philosophy. It has very little to do with “our cultural differences”.
“We agree to disagree.”
It is intentional and agreed upon that “we” shall disagree (for a purpose).
There is a uniqueness in each of us. Unfortunately society and polity do not accept this disparateness and club us all into one.
Yet our society preaches the virtues of individuality while simultaneously grouping us all into one. You are free (and sometimes encouraged and rewarded) for being an outcast so long as your “outcastedness” is still within the fringes of society.
If ever you go beyond the accepted norms you are basically a terrorist. Jesus, Socrates, Ghandi, MLK; all criminals, all terrorists. Stalin? Not a terrorist. Merely a great leader. The antitheses of terrorism. The State itself. The great Mother Protector.
