The discipline called Philosophy.

:-k Philosophy is the first discipline (I think). First comes curiosity then questions statements and answers. All disciplines have questions. I would seem all humans historically have some form of rules and behavior. There are order and disorder. Both cannot exist in the same space. But to follow a discipline one has to understand it. I chose Philosophy as one of my first philosophies because it is said (it was the first one). I love asking questions statements and answers. But only to learn understand and share. I feel sharing is wisdom. Sharing for sharings sake and not selfishness.

I now understand better the sentence (the love of wisdom). pl

“Life” is the “First Discipline”.

Philosophy secondly comes into the picture as to “How”.

yes pljames, we all choose philosophy as one of our first philosophies.

:-k What comes first life or how? Every word has to have a meaning, a understanding. A thousand people then a thousand understandings each different. Life to you might not be life as I see and perceive it. Maybe that’s why there is a discipline or disciplines. To gather more insite to make another thought as to defining what the word means universally and individually. Drawing us closer to a better understanding of the word as we see it and others see it. Sharing this knowledge is (wisdom). pl

Well put James.

Here’s my try.

Being is reality, becoming is an idea. Some philosophers feel the best “how” is to drop the idea, and focus on reality. Become now.

Rather, “what” and even “why”. Making conscious of valuing. But for a completely sapient being, life is subservient to philosophy. Life is always subservient to the capacity to recognize values. Philosophy is the cognizing of this capacity.

Before there was question, before there was knowledge, before there was understanding, there was life.

Until life encounters a problem that it cannot easily handle, there is no discipline to anything but the process of living.
When that first discipline is seriously challenged, new disciplines are sought so as to aid it.
Only when old disciplines are seriously challenged are new disciplines found.

Christianity was not born out of the satisfaction in the Roman world, but rather the dissatisfaction.
Science was not born out of the satisfaction of the Christian world, but rather the dissatisfaction.
Rational Metaphysics and Value Ontology were not born out of the satisfaction of the Science world, but rather to answer to the needs which Science could not.

Philosophies are discovered and formulated so as to respond to the limits of the efforts, the disciplines, before them.
There is no interest or impetus to know how or why concerning anything until the discipline called “survival” is challenged.
Many trees grow bearing a variety of fruits, but the first tree is the Tree of Life.

It is only to firm up the roots and under-standing of that Tree of Life that the trees of knowledge and wisdom are created and brought to discipline.

If one shares wrong facts, it is not wisdom, some mistake beautiful rethorics with truth, which it is not.
