Two questions…firstly, do you think a draft is coming soon?
Second, do you think that if someone gets ocular migraines, and is a firm pacifist, that person can avoid the draft?
I sure as hell am not going to be forced into the army.
Have you registered for the draft? ER, excuse me, selective service.? Don’t sweat it, too many volunteers. Money, roof, 3 squares, something to do, education, beats flipping burgers for a living. Also there is more chance of getting shot in a hold up at McDs then in the military. 
I think I am registered for the selective service now…I got something in the mail about it but I think I was automatically registered.
Regardless, it is something I would prefer to avoid if at all possible.
That was the reminder I believe.They could have changed the process. My son had to go down and register when he was 18, now he is 23 so they could have changed it. I really seriously doubt they will run the draft. Like I said too many volunteers. Especially in a recession more young people will sign up. Its a steady paycheck in an unsteady economy.
I would double check and make sure you are registered just to be sure. You would get a card with a number or something like that.
Yeah the paper I got has a card too that I sign and keep in my wallet. The paper was actually pretty unclear about how the registering works.
I was automatically registered when I turned 18 too, even though I turned down the automatic registration when I got my drivers license. It was weird.

I heard that people could buy themselves out of it…is this true?
There will be no draft in the US in the foreseeable future. The current war is too unpopular for that. Don’t worry.
I don’t expect any return to the draft anytime soon. It would extremely politically unpopular. And a volunteer army is much more professional and effective than an army of conscripts.
I don’t see a draft coming, since most candidates today are looking at ending the war anyway.
I don’t know if I have been a U.S citizen long enough to get entered for the draft, but I would duck it by getting pregnant or something.
If a draft comes I feel sorry for anybody who comes near me considering that I have my own personal armory.
( I feel real sorry for the poor son of a bitch who comes near me. They would have many lead pierced holes in them.)
I wouldn’t mind being drafted up for the RAF in their Operations/Strategy division, but I am a pacifist at heart and only feel the need to maim and kill when I am under direct threat! 
poor guys have to do 25 months of compulsory military service( but it’s pretty laid back, except for a handful of crazy nationalists who join the “marines” and “seal type commandos”, people here in the army order delivered food). i am not allowed to serve in the military of the republic of cyprus by constitution 
( of course i can press for it and win the case in the ECHR but i ain’t no foo’)
Lucky you! Why not? I’m on my 8th month out of 13 of non-military service.
coz i’m turkish cypriot and i can only serve in my respective “national guard”, which is impossible at the moment as North Cyprus is occupied
Now that I think about it, I’m probably not available for a draft anyway.
There is a way to get out of the draft if it ever happened but it would require you to do some paperwork. Less paperwork if you haven’t signed your govt. name over to the govt. yet 
The govt. tricks you into thinking it’s mandatory to join when in reality it’s not…
Well…the alternative is a hefty prison sentence is it not? If donating money were an option then that would be no problem.
