Sadness rests
remembering the fire that burned.
Indifference supports this
complacent and uncomfortable sadness.
As the smoke fills the night sky
so I too raise my being into heaven.
The dusty particles become trapped inside me
while my sight is consumed by starlight.
As I rise
so must I fall.
To earth I plunge.
Violently, I land
without reason to catch me.
Burnt embers mark my body.
The flesh feels.
