The Great Harlot

My question to you.

Why would the Jewish Talmud contain such a curse?

The Forbidden Chapter in the Tanakh

Which volume of the Talmud is it in? I want to see the context. It seems that the pagination is different in various translations. Does the passage give a reason for the curse? I have minuscule knowledge of the Talmud, but from what little I have read it is often cryptic and counterintuitive. I doubt that I have exhausted the possibilities, assuming that the verse says what you have asserted. . It is a creepy curse if you’ve got it right. Maybe if you would provide the chapter the verse is in it would make more sense.

This document discusses Jesus in the Talmud and modern Judaism. It argues that modern Judaism is not the same religion as the Judaism of Moses, and quotes passages that show Judaism rejects Jesus as the Messiah and considers Jewish Christians to be heretics. It analyzes quotes from rabbinic sources that appear to condone racism against non-Jews. The author argues that while modern Judaism has distanced itself from such views, in its most extreme forms it qualifies as an “antichrist religion” that denies Jesus and leads people away from salvation. The document cautions Christians against uncritically supporting modern Judaism over Messianic Judaism.

Of course not. Religions evolve. It’s an anachronism to even call the religion of Moses Judaism. There’s scant evidence to show that Moses even existed.

Most Judeans rejected Jesus as the messiah. That’s documented in the New Testament and other contemporary texts. Initially the Jesus movement was one more Jewish sect among first century Judean sects.

The modern concept of race originated in the 19th century. So again that’s an anachronism. You had competition, hatred and sometimes obert violence between tribal groups, city-states if thats what you mean.

Most Jews don’t believe Jesus was the messiah. This is not news. Do some Jewish extremists oppose Christianity and lead people away from Christ? I would be surprised if they didn’t. Some Christian extremists are antisemites. The videos you posted show Christians proselytizing Jews in the streets. Religious sects compete. This is how it’s been throughout history. I’m happy when its not violent.

Why should we uncritically support either, or religion in general, or any human endeavor or product whatsoever?

This is more relevant to my Yahwism preceded Judaism thread.

I posted the article specifically to answer your question

This article was the closest I could find that relates to the Talmudic Law, regarding the Curse on Daniel from a Jewish (Rabbi) perspective.

…“Talmud said two things in this regard: one was as stated above, and the other was that there is a curse on anybody who reads Daniel 9. He asked his instructors why, and looked into theTalmud, and found that it said the reason for the curse was that the time of the Messiah’s coming was foretold inDaniel 9. He could not believe that God would put something in His Word and not want people to understand what it meant”…

From your answer you have gone on a tangent about everything else except where it plainly gives the answer to your question regarding Daniel.

Your adopted “naive” attitude when you ask this question does not go amiss, as I am aware you already have your answers and belief regarding this.

I am curious to read what you found regarding The Curse on Daniel.

Is it too much to ask for the actual curse in its Talmudic context? I couldn’t find it on cursory search. You gave a page number but the Talmud I found on line is paginated differently.

may I have the reference for this?

@reason4emotion

Your “Talmudic Curse” is probably a lie. It is fittingly so for you peddle lies and harmful calumnies daily. Peace.

Sculptor, I would’ve thought better of you than this kind of trolling. Apocalypticism is a existential concern of a lot of people. A 2022 Pew Research Center survey found that 39% of U.S. adults believe humanity is living in the “end times,” with 47% of Christians surveyed holding this belief.
I have shown above that the book of Revelation is completely explicable in terms of people in events of the author’s own time. Since the 1800s people have again and again been disappointed when their interpretation of the prophecy proved wrong. Cognitive dissonance apparently explains why they reframe their interpretation and persist in believing “the end is near.” Given the nuclear arsenal and the rate at which we destroy destroying the environment it may be a self fulfilling prophecy. In any case, it’s no joke.

This is not trolling.
It does not matter that some think the world is ending. It might be bu I’d be looking at MAGA policy not giving oxygen to this nonsense.
