If Leonarda Da Vinci presented the Mona Lisa today, noone would care or give a shit. He would just be some guy on Deviant Art with a painting. Then there would be millions of other AI paintings.
If Doom 1993 was released today, it would be viewed as “good” but not revolutionary.
Technology modifies our subconscious to view everything as more lame. Even if you tell your consciousness that it shouldn’t be lame, it is still lame.
Not just technology, but overpopulation, physical overpopulation.
Tech for soys and beta males. Probably paid influencers to overrate the tech.
I will give my own true rankings of each of these techs.
Phone that changes the back of it: 0/10 lame who gives a shit, more capitalist excess and having to pay for 2 screens. And more materials, pollution and work hours having to use for it. It doesn’t even look good and has a giant bevel.
Willem dafoe picture frame: 5/10 Creepy but it is kind of cool. Probably very expensive, but if it was cheap (like under 100 dollars) i would probably increase my rating to 7/10.
Wow cube: 4/10. Almost cool, the problem with it is it is way too small. If it was larger I would have given it a 7/10
Mobile Phone Gamepad: 1/10 This was already invented years ago, who gives a shit. It just looks like a different art style design and probably more expensive than the ones you can get for 10 bux.
Robophone: 5/10 Has built in gimbal, cool I guess, gimbals are old tech that been around for hundreds of years. I guess saves money from having to buy a standalone camera with gimbal, but its not actually gonna save you any money cause its gonna be expensive. Its gonna save you money 30 years from now once Chinese copy it and gimbals become standard on every phone.
Ice maker: 1/10 I already have an Ice maker on my freezer, wtf is this. Ice age ooga booga.
3D Printed Shoes: (0-6)/10. If they lack durability they are 0 out of 10. They only get 6 out of 10 because they jack up the price to 160 dollars for a 3D print. This could have been a great Commie invention to help the poor but instead only benefits the rich. The shoes only should be 10 dollars
Hologram in capsule: (1-8)/10. If its cheap and a Real 3D Volumetric Display it could be 8 out of 10. If it just a fake flat plane hologram then 110. I could see valid future usages if you could actually stick things inside of this.
Robot pool cleaner: 8/10. I dont have a pool so i dont give a shit about it, but I could see this being useful for a rich person who has a pool.
Ai room: 2/10 Very lame, just shows a 2D video of a mountain and changes room temp to be cold. No mention of soundproofing which is the #1 most important thing for a room.
Dreo misting fan: 0/10 Outdated tech and no different than cheap chinese swamp coolers that have existed since 25 years ago. And is better for arid desert regions not forest or tropical areas, because it increases room humidity too much, causing mold and fungus.
Touchscreen restaurant - Old news I already been to restaurants with touchscreen menus.
Laifen hair dryer - Who gives AF its a hair dryer. You can get cheap chinese blowers with more power
Laifen Wave toothbrush: (0-9)/10 Just a standard electric toothbrush with AI features. Rating depends on how healthy your teeth actually become from this brush.
Rokid Ai glasses - Lame, worse than VR and AR glasses that came out years ago. You cannot watch TV or videogames on the Rokid Ai glasses. Unsure what to rate since they could be useful on a vacation where needing to translate foreigners. But this is old tech that already was here before last year
Ugreen AI powered data storage - just seems like chinese spyware, not rating it
Ugreen security camera - Mild upgrades and could be chinese spyware, not rating
Ugreen USB chargers - who gives AF, old technology
Dashcam - Supposedly an upgraded Dashcam. Society needs this because most dashcams sold online are 5 or 10 years outdated. Linus did a video on this. I’m not giving a rating because this tech should have been here 5 years ago, its like a win at the Special Olympics.
Air duster - just another copy of cheap chinese air dusters that have been here before last year, not rating.
New Samsung laptop: - Has some cool Ai features that increase productivity and ease of use. But AI powered computers seem like creepy spyware, so 0/10 possibly.
Smart picture frame: 0/10 strange and unnatural. The whole point of a picture frame is to be static and unchanging, not randomly changing the pictures every day. Second, the picture quality of a digital display is going to be inferior to a printed picture.
Portable monitors: (2-9)/10 - kinda based but old tech already. Rating depends on how rugged and robust this is (drop proof, scratch proof, waterproof etc.) As well has how many nits of brightness (Can it be seen outdoors on a sunny day?)
5 minute guitar: (3-10)/10 Could be good, would have to test in person.
Etherion max USTP - Not rating is a projector, old tech from the 1900s
Smart fitness gym workout - old tech we already have gym workout machines with displays from years ago. Nobody has room for that in their homes either, they should have made a compact version. People can just buy a cheap Wii Fit balance board and its small and compact. And its better to buy VR and get more exercise and fun from doing VR, and gives you more space in your home.
maono microphone - not rating, 1900s tech. its a microphone for vloggers and podcasters, meaning it might not pick up non-talking sounds well. That is not what we need. What we need are ear-identical microphones. The microphone i need is a microphone that is exactly the same as a human era so we can have bionic ears.
mini Ai supercomputer: 10/10 based runs ai locally no cloud.
Technology is too powerful of a truth-revealer for many people. They already hate the truth if it interferes with their little habitual pleasures and laziness. If it generates even an iota of cognitive dissonance for them. But technology is not going to conform to their prejudices and weakness, it will continue forcing reality upon them.
What massive layers of reality and truths do you think something like the existence of sex robots forces upon the psyche? People have to deal with this. Ignorance is not an answer, only burying one’s head in the sand. Likewise pretending to be on one side or another is only polarizing another type of ignorance.
Why does technology lead to lambification and zombification? Because most people are prone to being like that, slavish and “last man” as Nietzsche described. Today we call them normies. There are enough of them in the world to really screw up everything for the rest of us, even if they are not a true majority of the population (but they probably are).
Technology is only partly at fault, the rest of the blame is on human nature and the failures of our societies. In a sane society of intelligent and responsible people there would already be open and honest and very direct discussions all across society and in politics on all levels having to do with new technologies and how they are impacting the world around us and do we really want that, the pros and cons debated on a policy level, but that is happening almost nowhere. Maybe it is inevitable given the pace of technological progress, that it would outstrip society’s ability to rationally understand it. Only select individuals who are already more elevated in mind, intelligence, awareness and self-understanding could have a chance to not be destroyed by it. Everyone else will simply be forced to adapt in the end, one way or another. It is sad but I see no way around it.
Philosophical weakness means being coerced into adapting to the world in ways you might not want. These people gave away their power already, thinking to themselves that thinking was unnecessary in the modern world… average 90s and early 2000s sentimentality I suppose. Very innocent. Now we see the results of that sort of intentional ignorance and self-stupidification. If they thought bread and circuses were the end of it they are very wrong indeed.
Lets go with two concepts: Hedonic treadmill - also known as the hedonic treadmill, is the tendency of people to return to a set level of happiness despite life’s ups and downs. This concept was developed in 1971
Availability Heuristic - The availability heuristic operates on the notion that if something can be recalled, it must be important, or at least more important than alternative solutions which are not as readily recalled
Speaking from an evolutionary standpoint, finding value in everything and being satisfied with anything is not a benefit. Dissatisfaction is cause it drives the individual to secure always better positions.
But at the simplest you simply describe the biological reality that we work only with what we experience.
We live in the most comfortable, secure, free, safe and advanced era humanity has ever experienced yet do YOU take note of that? Does anyone?
Ill help you out: Nobody does because you lack comparison. You never experienced famine, you never experienced permanent discomfort, complete lack of security and rights, fundamental oppression and on and on it goes.
A is not B, but how would you know that if you have no idea what B is?
This ide of yours is also the same as the four generation cycle.
”Hard Times Create Strong Men, Strong Men Create Good Times, Good Times Create Weak Men, Weak Men Create Hard Times”
We fundamentally lack the capability to pass on experience to the new generations.
The result of that is that they will always without fail destroy the current system they are born into because they never experienced the downsides which have lead to the creation of the current system, so all they EVER experience are the problems with it, not the benefits.
Its the paradox of “the moment you create a system for solving a problem, the system becomes obsolete because the problem no longer exists”.
Ofc nobody cares about the “outdated thing” that “used to be such an achievement”.
They can recreate it in under 3 minutes with a printer or download it directly in 0.3 seconds.
This world is not a utopia. Even trying to type this message it glitched out 3 times for no reason.
There are currently a bunch of starving third-worlders and famine everywhere, so your famine argument isn’t even factual.
There are also lots of homeless Americans. Only America and UK even tracks homeless statistics, other countries don’t even track homeless statistics because they don’t even care.
You will be sorely disappointed with the quality of 3d printers once you get one. ± 0.2mm precision is terrible. It is inferior to low quality chinese plastics. I could not even get functional LEGOs to print from a 3d printer.
Most 3d printer people breathe in toxic plastic fumes indoors and we are still in the stone ages of 3d printers. They print indoors because prints are too sensitive to outdoor temperatures.
The simple fact is most of the CES2026 tech was mediocre, not transformative. The world already has too much pollution and waste, don’t need more junk piling up in homes and landfills.
The current thing you’re missing is “fun factor”. Where is the fun factor? In the 1600s people hunted around and farted around for fun. Nowadays everyone is overly domesticated. In the 1600s men wore wigs and high heels. Now everyone is some kind of domesticated straightedge normie. In the 1970s people could drive 200 mph in their cars on open roads, nowadays there are more rules. They try to placate with these gadgets, but fail to innovate. Even in the 1990s gaming was more fun than now, more split screen gaming, more LAN gaming, more comradery. Now everyone is all atomized, politically divided from each other, most people have bullshit politics.
Only a few of these gadgets looked genuinely fun. One gadget that looked fun was Rokid glasses, but again, Rokid already had glasses years ago, when I watch CES I want to see something new, something original. Who goes to CES to see “oh there is a slightly newer computer than before, but it has the same features as older computers”.
If you are looking for extremes, then you can go and visit one of the remote tribes and “Uncontacted peoples“ who live stone age methods even in today’s world. Im sure they would very much be amazed by your Mona Lisa.
Exactly because they have a different standard than most people today.
But if i wanted to further my point: you could take any of the tools they use on a daily basis, show it to them and guess what. They’d not find it to be unique, new, amazing, extra or anything else.
But lets go even further:
Due to the Hedonic treadmill, those people would get used to your Mona Lisa within a few days because it’d be nothing new for them.
The concept you are looking for is the connection between your work and existence.
Where your actions are directly, without extras linked to your own survival, i.e.: You hunt → therefore you have something to eat and wont starve.
There seems to be no edit button to edit my post, but I have been told that UGREEN products are not spyware and are privacy products. So they are probably privacy products but I’m not sure.
Modernity lacks interactivity, and thus is boring.
.
Its more complicated than that though. Movies are fun but lack interactivity. It would take a wall of text to explain why modernity is boring, its complicated to explain, lol.
