The Resistance Begins

You’re taking this all rather personally imo… you got something to lose?

If not, then… wtf?

Yes. I’m an American. I live here. If Trump and his cronies destroy the democratic system my family and friends will suffer the consequences.

Ever ask yourself: why are felix and all democrats like that?

Well, who benefits from all of those things? Those are the people who don’t want them stopped.

Is it not the new government’s role to, you know, be doing what they’re currently doing, in scrutinising monetary outgoings?
.
weird, how the out-going faction are still concerned with the government purse-strings, but not concerned about overall citizen wellbeing and quality of life.

Money money money… 🫰🏼

Nonsense. Trump hasn’t done anything substantive to improve the economy or bring prices down for the working class yet. The goal of his tariff posturing seems to be to shift the blame for domestic problems to foreign countries.

if fentanyl is being produced locally, I’d be heading for those foreign countries right about now.

So, as we have seen with the countries above and below us, perhaps NSAID should come to the negotiation table so that it can get back to work? Perhaps it could be a little more flexible about not turning boys into girls and girls into boys before the age of consent… and such issues?

First, the Office of Homeland Security was created by Bush in the wake of an actual terrorist attack. Arguably it was still unconstitutional, but the President does have much greater power during war time, and especially over intelligence and the armed forces. In other words, the OHS drew its power from the power the President had at that time.

Trump just disagrees on policy. That the same justification, and Trump doesn’t have the power to gut agencies because he disagrees with them. And since he doesn’t have the power, he can’t delegate the power to someone else.

Tom Ridge was also publicly sworn in as Director of OHS. He took an oath, likely something like this:

I, Tom Ridge, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.

Did Musk take an oath like that? Is he even officially employed by the US government?

Tom Ridge was also a governor, he already held a position of public trust, he wasn’t just a private citizen like Musk.

DHS was subsequently made a department by Congress, and the Secretary of DHS was made a cabinet level position.

Space Force is a part of the Air Force, it’s creation was effectively a reorganization, not the creation of a new cabinet-level department. And again, the President has much greater power over the armed forces than over e.g. USAID or DOE.

If the Biden/Harris administration had the power to get their baby killing or baby sex parts slicing tendrils all over what was supposed to be emergency funds, then the Trump/Vance administration has the power to undo that heinous act of war against baby boys and baby girls—both inside and outside the womb.

People who never learned about the separation of powers in civics class don’t appreciate the magnitude of the Trump’s violations of the US Constitution that are going on right now.

If things that didn’t happen had happened it would be a different conversation.

Trump/Musk are shutting down programs that have nothing to do with children.
They’re doing it without the constitutional authority to do it, and your shifting justifications are damning.

Equating criticism of Israel with antisemitism is wrong. Human rights are universal. Trump attacks on free speech are nothing new for him. But, as President Trump has a constitutional duty to protect the first amendment rights. Instead he is attempting to suppress it. Who, will rise up to stop him?

it is his strategy to do something over the top so that people will come to the negotiation table. It works, judging by the response of Canada and Mexico.

It’s not “over the top”, it’s unconstitutional. The President does not have the power to do what he’s doing, that power is given to Congress, and Congress has used its power to create and fund the agencies Musk is gutting. It is not Trump’s decision to make, let alone Musk’s.

It’s not a separation of powers, it’s a balance of powers. There must be oversight. Clearly, only a few people have access, and among them are special interests who are not representative of the values of our country. That’s not how it should be.

Musk has said that DOGE is already working on shutting down USAID the American government’s main humanitarian and development aid agency. The decision to scrutinize the six-decade-old organization — which Musk said he made with Trump’s approval — was welcomed by some Republicans but received pushback from Democrats. TheTrump administration would need Congressional approval to close down USAID legally.

DOGE also has access to a Treasury Department payment system that the government uses to cut checks to everyone from Social Security beneficiaries to government contractors.

That move prompted another lawsuit from advocacy groups and unionsalleging that DOGE’s access to the Treasury database violates federal privacy laws.

Elon Musk said his Department of Government Efficiency will shut down the foreign assistance agency. Musk and Trump aim to shut down USAID, leaving humanitarian work in doubt.

On Monday, Trump said Musk has “got access only to letting people go that he thinks are no good, if we agree with him.”

“Elon can’t do and won’t do anything without our approval. And we’ll give him the approval where appropriate, where not appropriate we won’t,” Trump said. “Where we think there’s a conflict or a problem, we won’t let him go near it.”

DOGE employees are also working with the Trump administration on potentially drastic cuts to the Department of Education.

So Musk is shutting down programs and harassing federal employees under the aegis of Donald Trump that Trump as president does not have the Constitutional legal authority to authorize. To take these actions would require acts of Congress. Meanwhile he is disrupting these agencies, making it impossible for them to carry out their mission, and causing people to quit. It’s an illegal hostile takeover.

I actually finally got some action on my PSLF form today. Can’t help but think Trump‘s second term in office may have had something to do with it.
