The Seven Sisters

Early on in my participation here at ILP, I said the War on Terrorism and the US invasion of Iraq, as had been ‘sold’ to the US through presidential speeches and the media, were based on un-truth; that the real objectives were 1) to preserve the US dollar as the petro-currency of the world, and 2) to maintain our oil ‘rights’ in the ME.

Al Jazeera has produced a four-part series called “The Secrets of the Seven Sisters” which has, so far, validated my position. I say “so far,” because only the first 2 parts are yet available on-line. It’s an excellent documentary.

I knew about some of what the documentary describes–how oil hungry countries set actual boundary lines separating oil rich countries after WWI; how Great Britain, and (later) the US manipulated governments to insure oil supplies; how the US, in response to GB’s request, deposed the Shah, then ‘got rid’ of Mosadegh, then brought back the Shah. But most people in the US don’t know that murky part of our history–and I had no specific focus, at the time, because I was looking at that history from a different perspective. The documentary set my focus.

With this in mind, are US citizens still willing to look at our country as being somehow ‘above’–somehow more ‘moral’–than any other country scrabbling for survival? Do we take it even further by believing every country should model itself after us because of our economic and ‘moral superiority?’

Please don’t misunderstand. I’m really just asking if my fellow citizens want to continue this myth?–this La La Land of supposed perfection?

We can undermine this evil conspiracy by drilling our own oil, you know. What would that solve? About everything.

C-N, the US is a part of the Seven Sisters! It isn’t OPEC. The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries was formed to protect those countries from the machinations of the Seven Sisters. Nationalization of the oil fields and the creation of OPEC gives back to the countries a major part of the profits all of which were previously taken by the Seven Sisters. Because the oil fields are nationalized, the various countries now share their oil wealth with the people of the countries. In concept, OPEC is a good thing for the oil producing countries and their people.

Liz I’ve always kind of thought that’s exactly the kind of thing that happens. People think I’m just being sarcastic sometimes, but it’s a no brainer that politics is just a thing people do to mitigate the collateral damage of the whole, “kill each other for resources” thing that characterizes so many through so much of history. I don’t know exactly who the seven sisters are, but I’m not surprised if it’s the case that the poor people living in shit were fucked over by the ones who have all the extra shit sitting around.

Good news! The seven sisters need not worry! Electric and hybrid cars will be taking off like wild fire as soon as the production facilities, the re charging stations become widely available. The petrol companies are holding back for dear life, in order to squeeze out the last remaining farthing out of a very overwrought market. But that is, if the world doesn’t go into a super war before that happens. OPEc knows this as well, and they are not particularly keen on it. This super business, is extremely instrumental in the way business is done in the world, would shock the world economy to an extent unimaginable, if the it were suddenly shut down. A slow landing lasting another few decades is foreseeable, with a predictable rise in at the pump.

I don’t understand your meaning of the seven sisters, and doubt its important as it has the ring of liberal bullshit allegory.

I’m willing to entertain for your sake the idea of the Iraq war being for Oil… Very few of the guys who fought in it thought so, it’s a fantasy of the left, and when Libya came around, it was so much rationalized as a good thing with precedent that the French Communist absurdly embarked on it on purely imperial grounds, as per their own twisted ideology, dragging the US into it for shit headed reasons… even when decent reasons existed but were not grasped for.

We live in a very stupid age, wars are fought on the basis of old soviet propaganda supposedly, the ice age ended because of the industrial revolution, and we must sacrifice statistical amounts of carbon to appease the Sun God of our corporate sins.

I am willing to discourse with anyone, even the magicians and solar cults… but don’t expect me to grasp the ludicrous nuances of ineffable and laughable propositions… I’ll get more out of deciphering the shit smeared doodles on a lunatics wall, as it might contain the echo of truth and a unexpected relevancy to reality.

Now, in this voodoo dance, you mentioned Oil Exploitation… Be it a real cause or not, we can solve both your ‘situation of belief’ with wider reality held by intelligent and learned people, by noting we HAVE ample energy reserves in the US, that relying on external forces instead of our own is causing real problems, such as associations with states that breed terrorism, and that not being so reliant on them for such a vital trade, and putting up with their insanity, would be a good thing.

Therefor the Onus of discourse, if it is to be Blaim, must shift to who, what party and movements, cockblocked our self-sufficiency in energy (democrats) and how we’re going to fix this (using our own energy reserves first, or increasing trade with non-terrorist nations like Canada.

If we can accomplish this, you can feel free to make all the absurd tribal myths for explaining the constellations you care for, sufficiently drugging yourself in a communal spirit dance, walking the dream world, confronting global warming by embracing sol invictus and ending war for all time, with the holy trinity of Marxs, Nietzsche, and Baby Stalin Smiling down on us, while a assemblage of winged witch doctors fly around blessing us.

I really don’t give a fuck about the delusional self hatred and absurd spirituality of liberalism.

I’m a simple man, simple facts. People in the Middle East live shitty lives because the location sucks, and they live a lifestyle that encourages suck. We are not to blame for their sickness, and using failed ideologues, such as the collapsed system of Marxist propaganda… which failed because they themselves couldn’t get it right and thought the twisted, fucked up propaganda they put out for generations was BETTER than their reality… you just shouldn’t waste your time on such things… but it’s a free country, discourse, but on occasion be prepared for the occasional reality bomb.

If you believe in this crap, wouldn’t it be solved by NOT buying their oil, and using our own instead? It’s a very simple solution, solves your beliefs, as well as some real ones, and it means I don’t have to don a cockcone and dance with Amazonians about the rest of the left’s religious absurdities. It’s quite simple and efficient, a basic rhetoric that applies to both casualties: If we have to us oil, lets use our own. If our need for foreign oil is resulting in conflict, the first order of primary blame and responsibility falls on the parties preventing us from using our own. It’s a simple, factual, honest, non-reducible logic that doesn’t involve sun gods, cries of imperialism, or silly cosmological aphorisms.

Contra you typed, “smeared” and when I searched this page for my name it totally threw me off.

The Seven Sisters are: Anglo-Persian Oil Company (now BP); Gulf Oil, Standard Oil of California (SoCal) and Texaco (now Chevron); Royal Dutch Shell; and Standard Oil of New Jersey (Esso) and Standard Oil Company of New York (Socony) (now ExxonMobil). They started with an agreement between England, the Netherlands, and the US, a trio of oil moguls who owned 85% of the ME oil reserves who banded together to form a cartel in order to control both oil production and crude prices. Have I said enough?

Please remember, petroleum isn’t just used to fuel transportation. Even an electric car has to get its power from something and that’s either coal or oil right now. And petroleum by-products are used for so many things it’s hard to list them all–but start out with plastics and go on to tooth paste.

I’m trying to show y’all how dependent we are on petroleum and how the US has been just as complicit as the rest of the WW in trying to garner profits from petroleum. Unfortunately the Seven Sisters are still the one’s winning out, even though their control has dropped to about 10%. They’re still realizing huge profits.

No one should profit from energy.

Maybe not, my dear Smears, but they do. And, in the WW, most of those profiteers are individuals.

Well at the very least we should spread those profits out evenly among all people in the WW.
