The thought factory

The thought factory

This one is yet another attempt to understand why humans get absurd and even evil thoughts.

In this analogy the brain is like a factory with thoughts rolling of the production line ‘to order’ ~ which is the important part. I often wonder why just at the point of climax something stupid or wrong comes to mind often spoiling the event, but we could see this as the boss of the factory asking what is to be produced next. In some cases a rapist has been formerly beaten by his father as a child while the mother looks on and does nothing, the child thinks that she should have helped him in some way without realising that she would simply be abused too [and often are in such cases]. So the rapist learns to hate womankind for this failure and his mind factory goes to work producing ideas and imagery with respect to this, initially it has no morals it simply churns out desired material.

On another level, in terms of invention it is fine if the brain throws up all manner of ideas, much of the time we are simply asking vague questions with no specific answer. The brain then has to bring together many elements to facilitate an answer to a non-specific question, in which case it is likely to throw random elements into the equation. It would also fling from one extreme to another so as to narrow the margins and begin to formulate the general theme of what is needed, if it isn’t ‘this‘, then it is more likely to be the opposite example etc.

This is fine as concerns invention, the more the merrier, however when the brain acts in exactly the same way but upon e.g. the subject of sex, then it will cross the line on all manner of social norms, causing harm to others and to oneself.

In the past this method has resulted in answers and once achieved brought joy to the consciousness, [to whom the orders to be produced [in the factory] are made], such that the association of joy with random or extreme memories and ideas would then be a desired result. It makes sense then that the factory tries to produce such extreme thoughts in order to facilitate a joyous or otherwise desired result. Thence the further we tread a given path or train of thought [like a production line in this analogy], the more the brain will throw up further extremes ~ and not necessarily ones of a kind we may enjoy as e.g. our chosen fetish.

Most of us probably think that all the thoughts which come to mind are somehow ‘our thoughts’ so we may get embarrassed at them and not dare speak their name, or indeed we may act in accordance with what those thoughts are.

Do we simply not know how to use our brains properly?
Do many ‘evils’ derive by not being detached and by thinking we are the brain and its thoughts are us? Even if this is the case we are to some degree subjective beings, so we can be detached from the workings of the mind.

The past is always active. If the past ends, you end. That is the reason why you will never allow that, no matter how hard you try. The past is everywhere in you. Every cell in your body is permeated by it. Every nerve is involved in it. The past has this body so much under control that it will not let it go. The past will not come to an end through any effort you make or whatever will power you effect! The more effort you put into it, the more willpower you use, the stronger it becomes. You came across many insights in this process, but every insight reinforces the past. It does not in any way help to understand anything and to thus free yourself from whatever. Every insight that you obtain with your investigations only strengthens and solidifies that.

Thus… what should you try to do in such a situation? NOTHING, NOTHING AT ALL! Nothing, no power in the world can help you, period. Thus, as long as you remain dependent on any authority outside of you, you remain hopeless. Once you understand this clearly, there is no more helplessness, your helplessness no longer exists. The you actually don’t know what to do. This is the situation where you have to arrive, no longer knowing what to do. And, if you expect that something will happen from what you then call your ‘clarity of thinking’, or your ‘meditation’ or something similar, then you are lost forever. Because that expectation is not true clarity.

Hmm indeed, but don’t forget the ‘now’ as it is all a bit of a loop, mostly we just let things flow but we can make an input into the mix. Are you inferring that the past ergo causality is all there is?

Interesting perspective there, sure the more one focuses on the past/causal influences then the more intense their appetency and effect, perhaps then the more you let go of memory and other causal input then the greater ones freedom from it? Hence…

Good point but can we not know in the now? …and by doing nothing you also allow causality to be paramount.
