That is the question. In my judgment, Trump’s success is symptomatic of everything wrong with America. If the country were on the right track he would have gone to jail decades ago. Instead, the system elected him twice. As Plato said, the ruler should be one who guards the laws and institutions of the state. Instead we have elected one who flouts and is destroying them. America has become the land of grifters and the grifted. I should have seen it coming. After all, it didn’t happen overnight. But, I have to admit I didn’t see how bad off the state of the nation is until Trump revealed it and made it worse.

The 25th amendment provides a mechanism, whereby Vance and the majority of the cabinet could declare the president unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. Vance would then become acting president.. the president could contest this declaration and Congress would ultimately decide on the matter. But as Trump‘s behavior becomes increasingly bizarre this is a possibility.
