US response to Australia’s recognition of Palestine.
The US Ambassador to Israel says “the Australian government’s decision to recognise Palestine was met with disgust by senior members of the Trump administration.”
A letter addressed to Prime Ministers of Australia, Canada, French President and UK Prime Minister had 25 Republican signatures and it warned the recognition would increase antisemitism in Australia and promote violence.
“Hamas’s war crimes are clear”…….. (no mention of Israel).
This letter is baffling and deeply troubling.
Australia’s position was “based on our interests and our values”.
