What is the meaning of life? After all it ends in the same way, it’s like a boulder. You can always push back but in the end you will fault, and the boulder will come rolling down the hill. All of that work for nothing. It’s meaning is nothing. There is no meaning in life, only the choices you make can give your life meaning. Yet it will end in the same fate as everyone on Earth, Death. Yes, you can choose what to do in your life, but it will not change anything in the spiral of life. And so many other questions unanswered in this time we have on Earth. -Gokaku
The point (meaning, purpose) of life is consent recognition in our thoughts, values, and behaviors (choices). If your choices align with the point in a world that is off the mark, they will make a seeable difference, even if only for the original consent structure subsuming the world.
The meaning and purpose of life is God realization. People like Buddha, Jesus and Ramakrishna are realized Beings who point the way that is possible for each of us to manifest who we really are. It’s never too late to start. Now is the time.
How ironic that the religions that want you to extinguish the ego are the most narcissistic when you talk about them.
That is simply your misunderstanding.
Agree to disagree.
The narcissistic ego is the illusion that you are a separate self struggling to live in a hostile world.
I am selfness like God is selfness, but I certainly do not subsume reality. I may have a simulation of you in my brain, but there is a real you upon which it is based, and I do not subsume that.
Your response just shows your confusion. It’s an understandable mistake. Given your misconception, rejecting my proposal seems like the right thing to do. Don’t worry about it. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus says, “Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin” in Matthew 6:28. “And yet I say unto you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these”.
Meaning of life, crap…again?
Meaning = purpose?
There is no purpose to life… purpose is what you make of life.
You must give your like a purpose, i.e., an objective.
No universal cosmic purpose.
If there were, there would be no reason for ‘will’ to have evolved.
Then the morons that reject free-will would be correct…and we are no different than a stone, or a drop of dew.
On a primal level, life begets life…life’s primary purpose is to replicate itself, thusly overcoming its own natural limitations, i.e., mortality.
But, for higher life forms - high IQ organisms, including some humans - an alternate purpose can be found.
For most, mid-wits, it is given to them by another, or it is adopted from the collective… intersubjective, e.g., a dogma, an ideology…
Plenty of those of iLP, and in the world.
For more free-spirited individuals - higher IQ, more free-will - they can find a purpose on their own, or they can give their life whatever purpose they will.
Buuuuuutttt…if ‘meaning’ is correctly defined, as how observable phenomena inter-relate, then existence is brimming with meaning.
The quality and quantity of these relationships is determined by IQ…yes, once again intelligence is a major factor.
We call this udnerstading…not knowledge.
knowledge is data; understanding is how data inter-relates.
Understanding is finding patterns underlying perceived patterns, or discovering how things relate, how they interact.
A derogatory comment:
Any time I come across some dim-wit or mid-wit asking for the “meaning of life”, I know I am either dealing with a young person, a philosophical newbie, or a complete and utter retard… using the French definition.
Asking for meanings is asking for a tutor, or a master… if not a god then a guru…a leader, someone to tell you what you see and how to Interpret what you perceive…and what to do about it.
Meaning and purpose are not the same thing.
The world is full of meaning …purpose is your affair.
If you want someone else to give you a purpose you are really asking to be dominated.
I didn’t read everything you wrote, goat boy, but I think it would be rather odd that everything around us shows function or purpose, but we (well… some of us) think there is no ultimate meaning/purpose/function — the why behind the how.
This is why some vote for totalitarian leaders like Trump or believe in conspiracy theories, it gives their lives meaning and purpose.
I think you think “totalitarian” is a fancy sounding word and have no idea what it actually means.
By the way, Satyr, a well known Trump hater.
It really is.
There is no meaning in a socialist’s life.
There, fixed it for you.
It’s been a conspicuous tactic of the far-right over the last twenty five years to use word games to muddy the ethical waters, particularly doing such pathetic things as labelling liberals as ‘violent’ and ‘oppressors’.
These Orwellian tactics only demonstrate how opposed they are to individuals discovering a real sense of purpose and meaning in their lives.
More words you probably think sound very fancy.
Tell us, what does “totalitarian” mean?
total self, or total other, and no self=other.
It means neither of those things you pseudo-intellectual quack.
meh, I say, meh
