from the polish black metal band behemoth

“Free will, brought us to the threshold ov the universe but public ostricizm is not the worst punishment for being an autonomic and free thinking individual. We are who we are, no more, no less. The outsiders ov society, the ‘filth’ of democratic illusion. But does that bother us? Not at all. Do we even care? F*** no! Nothing can darken our bright vision that leads us to illumination, to redefintion, to this sacred place where we can recreate our ethics that from now on are based on instinct. Knowladge ov the true nature and life expirience. Rejoice my brethren! We’ve never been closer to the truth. We are free to protect ourselves the way we want on the map ov infinity.”

So what is he saying to do? Meditate? I don’t get it.

Great quote. i was beginning to worry that I was the only guy posting death metal lyrics on here. nice job. Which song is this from?

None, Its Like on the 2nd page of their lyric phamplet.

Its a declaration of apostasy (the abandonment of ones religion political party or cause) in this case religion.

I have a friend who’s a huge death metal freak and plays in 2 different bands. He took me to a morbid angel show in Atlanta. I was the only person there w/ a college tshirt and a pair of khakis. I got to meet the band, but I was so wasted by the time I was backstage, that I didn’t even know I was backstage and I talked to some guitar player for about 10 minutes before realizing that he was one of the morbid angels. Crazy stuff man…

Way cool. I saw Morbid Angel back in 2000 in LA. They and SoulFly (when Max had just left Sepultura) opened for PANTERA!

To tell you the truth, I am an avid SoulFly fan. Far more than Pantera or Morbid Angel. However, i couldn’t believe how fast MA was. Their drummer was like lightning!

rockandrollguy72, do you like Arch Enemy? I’ve really been into them this past year. 2007 was definitely my Arch Enemy year.

I’ve seen pantera, white zombie, korn three times and manson twice.

The craziest show I ever went to was at a place called sloss furnace which is like an old ass furnace place that’s all creepy and weird. It was in 1995 and Danzig was headlining, Manson was the opener when he first released his first album, and Korn played on part of the tour, even though their name wasn’t on the ticket stub, when they were totally unknown. It was a very small venue, and I was 15. I got my ass kicked all over the pit and was sore for like 3 days.

My friend Scott… You have lived. After that experience at 15… it was all downhill from there. Nothing more to experience… :evilfun:

I also saw ozzy, type o negative and sepultura when I was a teenager all at once. I used to go to every show I could get a ticket to. For a while I dated a girl who worked at a record store and her manager would get tickets to everything so the store could have “contests” for people to win. I always won. I even saw the grateful dead w/ jerry garcia in 1995.

I’ve been checking out Behemoth over my lunch break. Watching videos, listing, and reading lyrics. I have to say that I am very impressed with the speed, but very unimpressed with the lyrics.

I grew up on Mortification, the Christian alternative to ‘bad’ death metal. Though it is an oxymoron, it was “Christian Death Metal”. So I am familiar with and can appreciate Behemoth’s sound. However, their lyrics seem no different to me than Mortification’s. Both are appealing to nonsense Gods. Both are out to destroy each other and call back to ancient prophesies etc etc. It actually bores the shit out of me. I’d prefer lyrics that state what they believ and why, or why they disbelieve. Calling out to Jesus or to Satan, or Mars, or the endless stream of other Gods Behemoth names, bores me. I prefer Slayer’s lyrics, like what I posted below.

I always used to make the point that Satanic bands NEED the Christian doctrine that they are rebelling against. Without it, they have nothing to rebel against. So ultimately, Behemoth and Mortification essentially believe similar doctrines, however they are diametrically opposed. They both seem weak, intellectually.

Slayer - New Faith
Read the lyrics as you listen along.
This song kicks so much ass and unlike Behemoth, you can definitely hear what they are saying.
Especially the *asterisk noted below.
When i first heard that line, I was like, “Did he just say what I thought he said!?.. Yup!”

Lyrics:
Holy man open up your eyes
To the ways of the world you’ve been so blind
As the walls of religion come crashing down
How’s the ignorance taste the second time around

Tell me how it feels knowing chaos will never end
Tell me what it’s like when the celebration begins

Welcome to the horror of the revelation
Tell me what you think of your savior now
I reject all the biblical views of the truth
Dismiss it as the folklore of the times
I won’t be force fed prophecies
From a book of untruths for the weakest mind

Join the new faith for the celebration
Cult of new faith fuels the devastation

Holy man come and worship me
I am all that you ever wanted to be
I’m the life of indulgence you never knew
The epitome of evil shining through

Tell me how it feels knowing chaos will never end
Tell me what it’s like when the celebration begins

Welcome to the horror of the revelation
Tell me what you think of your savior now
I reject all the biblical views of the truth
Dismiss it as the folklore of the times
I won’t be force fed prophecies
From a book of untruths for the weakest mind
*I keep the bible in a pool of blood
So that none of its lies can affect me

This is new faith
A different way of life
Witness the shame
See for yourself the lies
I’ll take the fight
Bring it every time, any time
Refuse to let them win
My heresy begins

Pray for life - wish for death
Pray for life - know in time you’ll pray for death

Tear it away
It lives inside your mind
Silence the fear
That keeps you pure inside
Now you can see
Life’s atrocities endlessly
Witness the miracle
Witness the miracle

Pray for life - wish for death
Pray for life - with every breath
You’ll pray for death - you’ll pray for death
Embrace new faith, embrace new faith
Yeah, new faith - yeah, new faith.

yea i have wages of sin and anthems of rebellion albums. Algela gossow (or however the hell you say it) is like a good singer. one of few death metal bands i know with a female vocalist. guitarist mike ammot is great too. (i think i mispelled his last name too lol)

rockandrollguy72, What do you think of my criticism of Behemoth’s lyrics?

adaquate and understandable.
i agree, i like their philosohpies more then their lyrics (like the one i posted originally). i saw them live in baltimore a few months ago and ive been hooked every since…

check out OPETH

I never realized how long they have been around.

If you like speed try Decapitated

Actually in fact (oddly enough that we got on the topic) Inferno, the drummer for behemoth holds a few drumming records for high numbers of beats per second(bps). Slaves shall serve being one of there highest counting songs…

This is more about metal than religion, so off it goes.

The only record that band might hold is “the fastest headache possible from listening to music.”

He might hold a record in some cheesy metal magazine, but I assure you he is nothing special. Pounding out quads as fast as a machine gun on a drum set certainly sounds cool…but those notes are single whole notes. There are drummers from the jazz fusion genre that can substitute rudimentary ghost notes for whole notes. This means that where your meat-head drummer plays one “beat”…they are playing four. Shit so fast you can’t even hear it clearly.

Mindless noise is what that shit it. Ever heard of Rectal Puss? Yeah, they suck too. :unamused:
