I wonder if it would remain a concern with the introduction of an intercontinental drainage system.
A pipeline here, a pipeline there.
It floods here, we irrigate there.
It would take a while, and it would be expensive. At the moment, there is an abundance of relatively cheap steel available. Of course, such a project would require international co-operation. However, once properly established, such a system would provide an abundance of the things necessary for the continuation of life on earth.
Actually given the oceans are going to rising, why not take advantage of that
and use desalination plants to clean up the water and then use that overflow
to create your tree’s in the desert with miles and miles and miles of pipeline
of water. You first of all attempt to remove all that extra water and prevent
the land from being going under water. Secondly you create millions of jobs,
so you now have millions of jobs being created. Thirdly, you say it is expensive
but how expensive will it be to save New York or London or Paris or Miami
or Venice from the rising water? This plan at least will use the rising water
to some positive advantage instead of letting it just flood the cities.
Your plan Sir, is an excellent one and I hope someone gets on it right away.
Technology exists to build sail-like structures which cool the air at its surface, where [even in ‘dry’ deserts] water vapor forms and runs to the base and on into drainage systems. Cheap as chips solution imho. That and building higher structures and with carbons. I’d suggest a 3D fractal building homes and shops with plenty of room/spaces between them on multiple levels over a large area. You could probably build a billion strong city in the desert, which feeds, waters and fuels itself. Maximum use of solar panels as the [flat] roofs of all the houses [flat for flying cars/vehicles [and rented parking]]and sails, as well as cultivated bio-fuels would do the trick.
Great now you all want to screw up deserts. I think they are great the way they are. I am from the Sonoran desert. Damn immigrants from all over are bringing in new plants , watering them, creating humidity and environmental changes that destroy such a magnificent land. No more water!!! No more alien plants!!! If you cannot handle the land, leave!
Lol, but humans have been changing habitats since civilization and farming was born. Not to mention that e.g. the sahara is expanding and water is being used up faster than it can be replenished draining lakes etc. I suppose there could be mega cities anywhere, but land has other utility than to stick houses on. I was thinking that desert cities would impact the world less than non desert cities?
The perfect city would be underwater or underground. There is an underwater colony being made somewhere, I just forget where. Talks of turning caverns into towns also. Most folks do not know that many caverns from Arizona to New Mexico are connected. Habitats can be made.
Yes but life underground, underwater, or in caverns would suck. I lived in a concrete tower block once, and it sucks to be cut off and to not get out in the open enough. Why shouldn’t the world be utilized by humans? The trick is in sympathetic use as much as possible, but somehow you gotta feed and house humans, and do it in a way which isn’t telling them to live here or there, no?
Some people would want to live in caves etc, others wont.
If you live in a city it would not be very different, a town would be , but, why would you have to stay under all the time?? Look if a terrible storm comes up, oppressive heat, nuclear winter, having a home in either place could save lives. Heck I want a Rammed earth home under ground and since I live on land that has an abundance of clay we are building one. My electric bill will go down drastically. I won’t have to heat or cool, if a hurricane or tornado hits, we will be safe.
You would be safe if your house was made of diamond etc, and electricity would be free where the surface would also be solar panels. The underground house sounds nice and would be a good solution, then flying cars would remove the need for roads and nature could kinda be left alone. I just think that people would all have to agree to do that, and they wont. People mostly want nice views, gardens, patios etc. industry could definitely go underground imho.
perhaps eventually people will all realise the same pipedream. at least there could be limited surface structures.
Oh gods!!! Noooo flying cars!!! There are far too many that have a hard time driving on roads. Imagine idiots that can’t figure out up and down as well as right , left, signaling or braking… Please do not add more dimensions to driving yet…
Lol yea, I think classic american cars are ideal, especially pre-1970 for me. Graphically I would just cut the sides of and flip them over to the opposite sides of the vehicle and rotate them horizontally. Then put blades or my multi-wing-meshes where the wheels would go, and build the whole thing from black diamond, bingo, we then have flying cars.
As I say they will operate by scanning the world, add to that the function to build a large data base of 3d items, and your car would ‘know you’ at least as accurately as your bank manager does. You would be able to call it to come and pick you up after a heavy night out too lol.
Age difference
I was thinking removing engine and heavy gear to turn it into horse or cattle drawn. Try getting past a well loved and trained horse or cow.
The engine would be made of carbonado [synthetic black diamond] orbs, and empty of fuel you could pick the whole thing up with one hand.
…well you could remove the blades and strap a cow to it, and a plough if you like. But for me to get the earth more natural we need to get rid of roads, and bring back mud tracks ~ for walking or riding on. The only way to do that without being like animals working the dirt, is to have technology and flying cars.
No reason why they couldn’t be ported or parked underground too. In fact I’d quite like everything to be as ‘invisible’ as possible, as that ethic would surely give rise to minimal impact both environmentally and aesthetically [for those who like nature above what man can build].
Whatever we do with the earth, mars is up for grabs imho. That’s gotta have a jade and gold crystal city etc.
