Trump Says He Won't Take His Presidential Salary

He is rejecting about $450,000 a year, saying he doesn’t need it.

Not only that but he insists on paying rent to live in the White House.
Also, he assures us, no pussy will be grabbed in the Oval Office.

No one has anything to say?

How uncommon is this? I figured he wouldn’t accept it, but is that like a normal gesture or have most recent presidents taken it in the past?

Most, they traditionally turned broke ass poor being away from their farm for 4-8 years, or because they had to give up their business to become president… I had assumed that was actually still the law, but have seen no evidence so far of Trump handing over his business interests to his kids or a board of directors, and nobody on the left has gone to town on him for this.

I really did think the only business you could keep was farm estates. I just can’t recall where I read it, was in my teens.

When you are worth 400 million dollars then an extra 450 000 per year is nothing in
comparison so in that respect he is right since he does not actually need the money

Most presidents are not multi millionaires to the extent Trump is before taking office so therefore have to take it

They somehow fucking manage to AFTERWARDS in Bill Clinton’s case. Who knew charitable work pays so damn good?

I suspect that he would have been better off to accept it then donate it in a preferred direction. That much money would make a hell of a difference in the right hands. It wasn’t the mark of the wiser man to turn it away (less I’m missing something).

News for those who have not been with it: He is broke, all his buildings are owned by Bankruptsy trustees. That is why he has Trump all over, as ads to pay for legal fees. The banks put out a hit on his personal fortune, but spared that, so he can bring in more loot for creditors.

Proof: That’s why he wii never show his tax returns.

You’ve been here too long to not know what the word ‘proof’ means.

Proof always means I’m right.

All right, proof positive, or better yet implication. I posted this to test credibility, not of my own, but of a report which came out within a CBS documentary on a Trump biography. That was followed by a Clinton bio afterwards, both harshly objective.

If what they are saying is without slant, then the credibility is pretty certain. On the same night, and this was the night before the election, others were interviewed, the bank president who was quoted as saying (figuratively), that the banks could have ‘killid’ him then and there.

The inference was, that, Trump is not the un-tarnished business talent he presents to the world.

For him not to take the salary and offer it as a charitable gift, is further proof of his act,as being more about his supposed altruism then anything else.

Last time I remember this it was Ross Perot saying if he were elected that he wouldn’t take it.

Right wing tea party types seem to know. That’s why it’s virtually impossible to set up a charitable 501c3. Because the fucking NFL was a non-profit until a few years ago.

NFL was a 501(c)(6)

Ross Perot is richer than Trump and so would he need it even less but he was an independent

This doesn’t invalidate the point. But thanks for posting it. You’re a smart enough guy to know this, so I’ll just take you as intentionally being an asshole.

No one knows how rich Trump is. I do find it strange that he seems to value himself based on his wealth, yet maintains an aversion to actually showing his wealth to anyone. For a guy who talks so much about what he’s worth, he sure seems to want to keep what he’s worth a secret.

Forbes does not think that Trump is worth as much as he claims to be. Regardless of how much it is it was actually inherited from his father
He never had to work for it at all and he has also been bankrupt multiple times. So he is not as successful a businessman as he likes to think
