I’m always finding a million things that I hate about commercials. What annoys me the most is the subtextual message behind commercials attempting to attack our mind and self-esteem. So, write a review about the most dreaded commercials or ever ones that you believe to be positive and effective.
Please go into detail about what you think that commercial really means and not just what you like or dislike about the surface of the production. In other words, what is the philosophy of the commercial!
ah, the pain of the media intaker that is the commercial. i stopped getting T.V. about 3years ago i’m guessing, and may have reveald that in one of my earlier posts, but dont remember.i’d like to see someone that DOSNT hate that %#@@(&^%$ loriel commercial.actually i wouldnt, they would think it’s ‘cute’. imagein. the philosophy of them is’buy our shit’ so it becomes ‘you deserve the best’ and ‘be better than every one else’ or ‘this product gives you peace’ or what ever. i know you all know this stuff, probly better than i do. never take shit from the best offers network or kazaa. the registry cleaner have me adware i fought with for days.it also had other products built in that were dangerous such as the ‘weatherbug’ and possibly ‘party poker’.
commercails for horror movies are particularly dispicable. yes! i want to be scared by more sickening evil! yes yes! we dont have enough of that fucking crap already!!! sorry everyone. everything in addtion of this should have been posted at the rant house.
good day.
I think that horror movies address the existential angst felt by teenagers and post teenagers when they realize that they may be killed and are going to eventually die anyway.
Many of these movies focus on women getting killed and that may be the result of male anger at the existential importance of females in the scheme of life. However, I think that’s a general cause of male on female anger. Also, these kind of movies may also be an expression of rejection at the hands of females during one’s tender years.
I think Gilette advertisements deserve a mention on this topic.
You know those adverts for shaving acoutrements - The man has a shave with the newest (and thus clearly best) razor by Gilette or WilkonsonSword, and then out of the blue, some bint comes up behind him, feels his skin… then makes sexy eyes at him.
It’s not even a subtle or subliminal message. Their clearly just saying, Use our newest razor, and some bint’s going to sleep with you.
Other adverts on same line of mental attack – ‘Just for Men’, Nivea visage anti-wrinkle cream for men etc…
i think the good kind of commercial if there truely is such a thing, are the ones on this site. the ones you and i barely notice anymore,or have forgotten. they are not annoying, aggressive, noisey or outrageous. they just inform:you can check this out if you want.
it all boils down to that filth: aggressive advertiseing. i would have practically declared war on that, but i have no army.
The best advert that I can remember has to be the Bud Weis Errrrr frogs, partly because it was a genuine series of adverts which followed a crude narrative.
The fact is that several years on most of you will remember the advert…
And of course the Levis advert with the little yellow puppet and the awful music, from the same era…
The thing that I hate about commercials is that they are made to dilberately not make sense.
It’s a mental thing, your mind remembers things that don’t have continuity, or logical form. I remember seeing this adverstisement for camel cigarettes wherein the camel had an extra leg.
There are many other tricks, like annoying offbeat songs, unnecessary volume compared to the show you’re watching, I could literally go on forever.
It’s smart… but that doesn’t excuse this shit. I’ve been told and I myself recognize that I have a real talent for adverstising, but I refuse to go into marketing. I think I would end up flipping out and getting fired anyways.
Gamer… if you’re reading this I would love to hear your input, as I see you as similiar to me in this way.
