There is a certain type of person that adopts early on in life this idea that if they just follow the rules, work hard and play by the system, be safe and sensible, conformist, they will receive all of life’s rewards, money and success. Conversely there are those who seem to constantly look for ways to cut corners, work smart as opposed to hard, make their own rules, rebel against the status quo, take risks, rely on talent and finesse over consistency and diligence, and deep down they feel this is the way to success, money and life’s rewards.
The first group, i have observed, arrive at their approach in no small part b/c they quickly see that they are born with attributes that make this first option easy. They are born with the nature to be sensible and organized. They are born with a gentle intelligent face, an everyman face. Clothes fits and their hair stays neat on its own. They don’t get bored following rules. Naturally they opt for strategy number one. Not by some moral goodness or clarity, but by path of least resistance. Same is true for second group.
Eventually both wish they gave the other approach a fair shot.
