understanding process

We don’t understand process very well.
Which is why we don’t understand evolution very well.
For example to study flowers, we pull a flower out of the ground,
kill it, then study its dead parts. We don’t try to understand the flower
within the ebb and flow of its day to day life, within its process.
Evolution is a study of the day to day flow of organic creatures.
Every single birth within the animal kingdom is a new step
in evolution, but we don’t see it as such. Now this idea that
we are unable/unwilling/can’t study things in flux, also works
with things like democracies and economics and philosophy.
For example we fail to see how the bushies war on terror has
made the constitution a moot point. We cannot see within the flow
of the day to day life we lead, to how bush has destroyed the
constitution. We see democracy as some fix point in the past,
but not as a process existing today.
I can’t tell if this not seeing process is inherent or
if it is taught. But in any case, I think this inability to
understand process is important to think about.
Important to understand within our own thought process.

Yes you have a good point. Evolution is not even understood properly. There are a few ways in which evolution could happen. To simplify my meaning I shall just use…

Evolution could happen…

SLOWLY
QUICKLY

Due to…

ENVIRONMENT CHANGES
TIME PERIODS

Causing…

CORROSIVE MUTATIONS
SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST MUTATIONS
NATURAL MUTATIONS

My personal theory is that Evolution is a natural breakdown in the DNA structure caused by natural radiation from the sun. We all have 5 faulty DNA strands in our body at the moment, and I believe that they will one day allign in some way to cause a sudden massive mutation. To give you an example of how massive this mutation will be, I believe that the T-rex became a crocodile within a few years of the mutation happening. Now you will say that crocodiles were around before the T-rex, but they were bigger…

T-Rex mutates, front limbs shrink, giving it those measly hands.

Crocodile is BIG.

T-Rex continues to mutate to a size, and shape that is compatible with the larger crocodile sexually.

T-Rex mates with larger crocodile.

Larger crocodile produces half breed mutation.

Half breed mutation becomes todays crocodile over four generations.

That is how the dinosaurs became extinct. It was just a sudden mutation that happened over a natural period of time.

So if my idea is correct, you would look for the mutations in peoples DNA, and see if they are alligning, and see if the mutations are increasing in number.

Pinchoism.

Many people do understand how the war has caused problems with regards to the constitution, and it is certainly true that many biologists study flowers while they are alive and growing etc (ever seen those spectacular fast-forward videos of plantlife growing? Brilliant stuff).

IF your idea is correct, could you give some examples of DNA mutating? And really, can you expect a T-Rex with a humongous bone structure to actually shrink to the size of a crocodile? Even if it’s DNA was changed, the body is ill-adapted to change to such a drastic difference in size, therefore it would probably just die.

There’s lots of information on the NET about DNA mutations. This thread is an example, but I wanted you to also see that we all have 5 mutations on average.
http://www.genetichealth.com/G101_Changes_in_DNA.shtml

As for shrinking the T-Rex to the size of a crocodile, it is actually not much of a change in DNA structure to shrink something down…way down. These were BIG crocodile anyway. The rest of the shrinking process happened due to cross breeding.

But… I’m confused. Where does it all go? I mean, the bone mass, the muscle tissue, all that good stuff - it can’t just disappear! Even if the crocodiles were really big, the T-Rexes had completely different bone structures - they walked on two HUGE hind legs and had really small forearms, while the crocodiles were equal in proportion and walked on all fours - or swam…

And as for that website - sure, we all mutate, or adapt as I like to put it, but has anyone changed that drastically?

Dude, what? There are many botanists who study living plants. And talking about Bush, hyperbole much? Most people would agree that he’s not the brightest toolshed or that everything he’s does has been in the best interest of everyone (not that its possible to please everyone anyway). But the constitution survived when we bent it to place Japanese-Americans in relocation camps during WWII, it survived through the Red Scare, and a time when you could be arrested for speaking out against Capitalism, and our freedoms will survive the Patriot Act, as crappy as a system as it is.

If the constitution were actually destroyed then Bush bashing would get you thrown in jail, or executed.

Manifested:

K: First things first, of course there are people studying living plants,
that wasn’t my point. My point is about how we think about things.
Think about evolution. We think in terms of a long time ago, like
dinosaurs, but we fail to understand evolution happens every
day around us. We fail to put evolution in context around our
lives. Remember the scopes monkey trial. It has been millions of
years since we have evolved from monkeys. We can’t/don’t/unable
to put evolution into any meaningful way in our lives.
Second thing, Read these and tell me in how many different
ways the U.S government is violating these on an ongoing basis.

K:Article 4 of the bill of rights
The right of people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers and
effects against unreasonable searches.

K: The “patriot act” killed this one.

K: Article 6 of the bill of rights.
In ALL criminal prosecution, the accused shall enjoy the right
to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the state and
district wherein the crime shall have been committed…
and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusations:
to be confronted with the witness’s against him; to have compulsory
process for obtaining witness in his favor, and to have assistance
of counsel for his defense."

K: I point out one, we know of, Jose padilla who has languish
in jail for 3 years without a lawyer and without being
informed of the nature and cause of the accusations,
Mr Padilla is an American citizen. There are many
(how many we don’t know because the government won’t tell us)
American citizens who are in jail in violation of the constitution

K:Oh and by the way here is article 8.
“Excessive bail shall not be required nor excessive fines imposed,
no cruel and unusual punishment inflicted.”

K: Three years in jail in solitary confinement without so much as
a single visit to any judge or lawyer, strikes me as cruel and unusual
punishment.

M: If the constitution were actually destroyed then Bush bashing would get you thrown in jail, or executed.

K: The day is still young.

Who thinks of things like that? I certainly don’t. I know the world is continually changing and adapting. Its just that its hard to recognize all the time becauase its such a slow process. I haven’t read too much on the subject but there is a lot of interesting research about how plants and animals continually adapt to each other in the second Jurassic Park novel The Lost World by Micheal Chrichton. Which was way better than the movie by the way.

If you’re going to talk about goverment, or industry not thinking in the long term, that because of short sightedness and arrogance our country is going down hill then I’m with you with that. Arrogance destroyed Rome and if we’re not careful arrogance will destroy the US.

Oh I see your confusion here…

The Dinosaurs do not shrink in their own lifetime. Their babies are born with the mutations. Like spinabifida in humans. Also, you are referring to T-Rex as a single creature with two long hind legs, and two short front hands. You would look for the next stage which would be two short front hands, and two short hind legs. The T-Rex would probably move into the water anyway, because the short front limbs would possibly make it difficult for the T-Rex to get up from a fall. Water would aid his movement.

Is this about evolution, or politics?
