Corporations have already given back to the community. I often get free shit from corporations. Ai is free. Many products are discounted. If you compare the price of products provided by corporations its often cheaper than small businesses. Not a day goes by that I don’t see videogames, provided by corporations, at absurdly cheap prices.
There is nothing wrong with UBI given by corporations, to give back to the community. If robots take all the jobs, but there is no such thing as UBI, it will be very bad for humanity. There will be war and a human anarchy uprising.

I’ll tell you a secret about video games - you only have to develop them once, then you can replicate and sell them effortlessly and infinitely, no further production required, besides the odd bugfix. As long as you have somewhere to host them, then the supply is infinite. All “intellectual property” of a digital nature is the same. It’s not a product you are buying, it’s a license to access something.
Games are expensive to make, but once that initial outlay is covered, it’s all sauce from there on in. Forever. People are still buying certain AAA games many years later, look at Skyrim, it’s made more money than the GDP of many countries..

Without maintenance of the services and infrastructure to maintain a good human condition to support the scientific-industrial complex, it seems that humans might find themselves ‘on their own’ in a world increasingly dominated by AI life.
It might be wise when humans would have secured a ‘basic right of subsistence as a human’ beforehand, which a UBI would represent. Therefore a ‘contribution’ (as a start) is not a solution in this urgent context.

My conclusion has been that advocacy for an UBI from within the field philosophy in a sense can be considered a part of the responsibilities relative to the field philosophy.

Also, science is not even close to solving the hard problem of consciousness or proving if something is or isn’t conscious. If they deem Ai conscious the focus will be on providing humanoid rights, and more human rights for all. I’ve already watched anime about this.
People seem to watch too much dystopian cyberpunk content which shows Ai terminators exterminating humanity. People should watch more reasonable looking shows that look futuristic. There are many different futuristic styles and themes, cyberpunk is just one possible theme. Cyberpunk is not the only theme.
Secondly… they are nowhere near making robot muscles that are functional. There is a ways to go before scientists could even consider exterminating humanity and replacing them with humanoids. Only some dumbass scientist would think there is no value in muscles and prefer primitive motor joints.

Unlikely, LLMs have plateaued, computers do not follow Moore’s law anymore. The initial release of GPT5 seems to be worse than GPT4 was. Later versions of GPT5 seem to have improved though.
You forget the interests and primary driving force behind the scientific-industrial complex. These are not ‘moral’ scientists but the industry that ‘needs’ scientists like human workers.
The need for human scientists (white collar work more generally) is actually one of the first aspects of human labor that is being displaced by AI.

Currently, Europe is benefiting from this by offering a refuge for American scientists. However, the US is not simply reducing 50% of its science budget arbitrarily. It is doing so because the ‘scientific-industrial’ complex no longer needs human scientists with the impending arrival of ‘living’ Quantum AI and advanced robotics.
You see the scientists ‘fleeing’ to Europe in 2025, unable to defend their careers, or the foundation of their human meaning in the world. How do you think the rest of humanity will fare once truly alive Quantum AI arrives that does the work of a million Albert Einstein’s in increasingly reduced time?
